About Hidden in Plain Sight

Hidden in Plain Sight is a set of local multiplayer (2-4 players) game modes that share a common theme: trying to accomplish goals without drawing attention to yourself.
In each game mode, players control characters in a sea of identical NPCs. Players are given a task, but also the means to eliminate each other from the game. The goal is to blend in with the NPCs, accomplish the task at hand, and take out other players before they get you.
One of the simplest game modes is called "Death Race." Players and NPCs are racing to be the first to cross a finish line. Each player has a gun with one bullet, and can eliminate one person from the race. Do you sprint ahead, calling attention to yourself but maximizing you chances of winning? Or do you hang back with the pack?
Other game modes create similar tension by putting players in a conflicted position of wanting to accomplish a goal, but risking elimination by doing so.
Rounds are quick and lively, and always end in laughter and friendly shouting. So grab your controllers and friends and give it a shot!

13 years and counting, this remains my favorite party video game. First encountered it on the Ouya and have picked it up on every platform since then. It’s always a 100% hit with any friend group and once we boot it up, ends up being the only game we play for the rest of the night. Very much appreciate how well supported it is over the decade. Its simplicity is very charming and accessible, and yet its customization options make it so high skill players can up the ceiling once they master the fundamentals. Would love to see this game continue to evolve without losing its DOS-era spirit. Works great with Steam remote play, but naturally in person play is best to get the most out of its couch local multiplayer party time juice.
honestly, i can't imagine someone disliking this game. And in 2026, more than 10 years after its release, an update soon for an online mode !
This is an amazing game to play with friends. I've been playing this game for years, whenever I get 4 friends together (mostly in offline mode, so playtime in review isn't correct)
iconic game. one of those rare games that can hook someone who doesn't know video games.. and yeah they'll miss their shot in death race but they'll have a good time doing it
Spy Party before Spy Party was a thing. I spent a lot of offline hours with this game tricking my friends and moving just perfectly to convince them I was an NPC. Unfortunately this wasn't developed with online multiplayer in mind, so it'll always be a couch game. Still, good game with a passionate dev behind it.
