About Honey Rose: Underdog Fighter Extraordinaire
IMPORTANT NOTE: For all information regarding DLC and the "Pay-what-you-like" remuneration model, please read the information below!
What the game is about:
Honey Rose: UFE tells the story of Red, a young university student with dreams of making it big at the masked fighting tournament.
She looks up to Big Blue, the current champion, and aims to meet her idol in the ring! However, she has a history of poor class attendance, and has repeatedly failed her latest classes.
This year, she made a deal with her parents: she’d either graduate, or they’d change towns. Unfortunately, the masked fighting tournament also takes place for the first time in the very town Red lives in... making it her one and only chance to make her dream come true!
Thankfully, that’s where you come in!
With your guidance, she needs to balance her studies with her training so she can bring home both the champion's belt, and her graduation.
The game is a life-management simulation, presented as a visual novel, with beat'em-up elements.
In short: some reading, a little fighting... and lots of planning!
Features:
Pricing
The game uses a "pay-what-you-liked" remuneration model.
"Pay-what-you-liked" is a system designed after "pay-what-you-want", except you choose to support the game *after* having played it for yourself, and determined its personal value based on your own experience. It is designed to offer each player the most choice possible in how, when and why when considering whether to support the game or not.
Since Steam doesn't support "pay-what-you-liked" or "pay-what-you-want" remuneration systems, the DLC acts as a stand-in to offer multiple suggested tiers of support.
IMPORTANT NOTE: buying DLC stands in for supporting the game at the value of the suggested tier. It will NOT enhance or change your ingame experience, you will not be getting additional content other players can't access, as the aim for this system is for the game to be the same for everyone: ie, its most complete state right off the bat! That also means the game is NOT F2P/P2W: there is NO in-game economy that allows you to pay for additional content. The game is fully available for free from the minute you start playing it!

"Honey Rose: Underdog Fighter Extraordinaire" is more e-book than game, right away that's a problem... this is one of those "dating sims" where you bumble around with stats, although instead of dating your goal is to have a fight. There is a game underneath all the Choose-Your-Own-Adventure high school anime club dropout fan-fiction writing, you do some lightweight arcade fighter/versus stuff... but mostly this is just high school cringe writing. Also the animations are super janky... this looks bad, plays worse, but the writing is so bad, if you can make it to the actual gameplay you have a stronger stomach than mine. The graphics in this game are passable, but could be better. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. On a technical basis, this is in 4:3 resolution... wtf? What year is it? Did the developer make this on an old CRT they found in a dumpster? Speaking of dumpsters... This is only free in a rudimentary sense... the developer has their …1 found this helpful

How can you make a visual novel without Rollback?? Since I can't click through the game and need to use spacebar, I keep choosing options without being able to read them. It's a shame because I was excited for this idea of fusing Street fighter type games with VN's and the combat's good. Throw's a bit... glitchy but I'd rather put that down as a skill issue instead of arguing for it. Yeah. Just the rollback feature. It's a deal breaker for me not having it since I play so many VNs. I normally like going backwards and properly considering decisions or figuring out lore so I know what's going on but I can't do that here if I'm constantly going to be skipping over choices accidentally with no way to change them.
