About Horizon Of History

Horizon of History is an educational VR experience that will take you on a journey through the ages.

It's a virtual time machine that will teleport you between key periods of the history of Poland's capital city - Warsaw.

You will see Warsaw's panorama as it was in 11th, 14th, 16th centuries and after it's total destruction during the Second World War up until today.

Each time period has various items and artifacts available for you to play with:
  • Hit the Target With A Bow
  • Hack Wood With A Slavic Axe
  • Cut Vegetables With A Polish Saber
  • Shoot Targets With Deadly "blyskawica" Submachine Gun and More!

Feel the history in your hands. Experience everyday tools and items from 1000 years of Warsaw's history.

The viewing point is located at a virtual recreation of the Warsaw's landmark building - the 44 story Palace of Culture and Science and it's famous observation deck.

It is very interesting how VR can be used for education, especialy in areas as deep and complicated as history. Horizon of History allowed me to learn and understand the complicated history of Warsaw in a very cool and immersive way. It's not a game - it's more like an interactive history lesson. I wish there was an experience like this for every city. I'm glad that Vive can be used for more than just gaming.

I enjoyed this and found it a good attempt at teaching history through VR. The surrounding countryside needed to be of a much higher-resolution to "feel" right, as if I was on a platform looking out over the landscape. It would have been nice to be able to get down to street level during the history lessons. The final scene/lesson was quite moving. Overall a nice initial example of history in VR.

Obviously a another rushed VR experience. It had potential, I can see what they wanted to do but it falls much too short to be worth buying. Pros: - If you really like history and can tolerate monotone narrators then you may have some enjoyment. Cons: - Mind numbing, monotone narrator… - Environment rendering is so low rez, you can’t really see much. It’s just a badly done CG rendering onto a sphere. - The small number of interactable items are so useless and not engaging at all. - There isn’t even a tower beneath you, you’re just floating on this platform that appears miles above the ground.
