It’s you versus the world as you’re pitted against players from all corners of the globe in a brutal battle to pummel your way up the leaderboards. This might be my all time favorite 2D shooter. It’s so fun. So unique. Graphics. Audio. Physics. Game mechanics. All of it is perfect. I beat it in hard mode with the metal jaw dude on switch. Stop reading this. Just buy this game.
This game is an absolute banger! The graphics is so detailed, along with the sound it forms the perfect vibe. Had a blast playing this with a friend, not done yet, but so far it's fantastic! Really recommend as a solid couch co-op game. These developers deserve more credits!
Rating ★★★★★ (5/5) The best Genesis game never made Huntdown nails everything it sets out to do. Every boss feels genuinely different, each one demanding a new strategy rather than recycled patterns with a bigger health bar. The game is challenging but never unfair, since every death feels like your own mistake instead of cheap design. The core gameplay is rock solid, with tight controls and relentless action that never lets up. All of this is wrapped in gorgeous pixel artwork that drips with gritty 80s style. Worth at full price.
Amazingly satifying gameplay and sound. Not a fan of pixel art in general but it compansates with everything else. Can get a little tough even on easy difficulty but you have infinite tries and the bosses are doable so far.
Fun run'n'gun shooter that starts out fun and easy enough and then has an abrupt difficulty spike halfway through the game, and then it decides it wants to be a quasi-bullet hell shooter. Even on normal difficulty people might find the sudden jump too frustrating to finish the last half of the game. Clearly inspired by 70s/80s gang movies, with The Warriors and The Last Dragon being two obvious points of reference. Great sound design.
Fun run and gun side scroller with a large amount of content. Wish old arcade games had been like this. Reminds me of SNES games, but without much "precise jump timing" stuff until the very end. Even then, it's repetitive and rhythmic.
