About Ichima-san
Game Overview
You, the player, have somehow lost your human body and been turned into an ‘Ichimatsu doll’. In this action-adventure game, you must explore a traditional Japanese house to find a way to turn back to normal.
The general course of action is using hints to hunt down various items that will enhance your abilities.
You mustn’t allow yourself to be spotted by living humans. If you feel you’re about to be seen, you can play dead like an inanimate doll.
Should you be spotted, run away as fast as you can. If you get caught, it's game over.
While you can’t fight against humans directly, some of the items you collect can be used to create poltergeist phenomena that can stun or distract them.
Lovable Characters
Along the way, you'll receive assistance from various objects inhabited by ‘tsukumogami’. They may (or may not) give you game hints.
There are plenty of hints to come across, though, so even players who are not good at adventure games can enjoy playing.
Fun Mini-Games for a Relaxing Life as an Ichimatsu Doll
Throughout the game, there are various relaxing activities such as fishing, dancing, racing, and more. You can even ride on top of a robot vacuum cleaner! If you really want to, you can simply forget about getting your human body back and enjoy the easygoing life of an Ichimatsu doll.
Hiragana Mode
To allow a wide range of people to enjoy the game, a Hiragana-only option is also available. It is recommended for children, those who are not yet comfortable with Kanji, and those who are just starting to learn Japanese.
Background of Development
Originally, Ichimatsu dolls were toys cherished and played with by young girls, and they were thought of as friends. Over time, many people started to think they are creepy or scary. They are commonly used as horror motifs nowadays.
We felt there ought to be at least one piece of media that returns to Ichimatsu dolls ‘roots by highlighting their cuter, more playful side, thus leading to the development of this game.
In addition to Ichimatsu dolls, the game is filled to the brim with nostalgic echoes of Japanese customs and culture that have gradually been falling into obscurity.
We recommend the game to anyone who wants immerse themselves in a myriad of uniquely Japanese experiences.
Please enjoy this slightly scary, sometimes bittersweet, and heartwarming adventure.

I came across Ichima-San via social media and it caught my eye. Playing a small doll evading burglars seemed like a pretty novel idea. Now, I've played, it's not exactly what I was expecting. While the stealth and burglar part is still very much present, the game is much more of a collectothon than a stealth game. I didn't mind too much however since the game is quite charming. All the NPC dolls have very interesting, quirky or just fun facts to share. Exploring the house is also quite fun and you revisit older sections later when you have items that allow you to access previously unreachable areas. There's a few fun and challenging mini games to boot. Final boss also has a fun and unexpected kind of fight. Just overall game was a lot of fun. Got no real complaints aside from ending being a bit simple. Or no extra cutscenes for getting 100% completion.1 found this helpful
Ichima-san is one of those great ideas that I really wish had a bit more budget and expertise behind it. Essentially an incredibly Japanese take on Home Alone meets Toy Story, you play as a traditional doll trying to get rid of burglars by setting off alarms, knocking vases on their heads and...well mostly it's that. The other half of the game is a collectathon, with some strong level design, interesting minigames and even some light metroidvania elements. Unfortunately Ichima-san is held back by some serious jank, with some whack physics, broken lighting and generally low rent feel to everything. In spite of these rough edges it's still a lot of fun, and the concept is strong enough to hold your attention for the 7 hours it'll take to 100% it. It feels like a lost PS1 game (take this as both the compliment and criticism it is), and it's recommended for anyone who likes cute characters and is willing to forgive some rickety design.1 found this helpful
I just finished the game 100% in about 9 1/2h. I think I could best describe the game as, "comfy". While the game is primarily about you sneaking stealthily to your objective in your quest to regain your stolen body, the game overall had a very relaxed feel to it (and the mostly calm soothing soundtrack helped too). Whether you are chatting with a possessed object tucked away in a cupboard, fishing in a tiny pond, tiptoeing out of sight near the ceilings, or speeding down a hallway on an abacus (I must admit that was pretty neat), it was always a joy watching the little doll try her best to navigate through the nooks and crannies of the massive house. The mini games were challenging, but fair (although I probably spent a bit more time on the dance mini game than I should have). All in all it was a very charming game.1 found this helpful
Its a quite soulful, casual and unique indie game. A fair amount of the game's content is thoughts, tidbits and food recommendations/recipes from the dev which were an interesting window to a culture I am not part of (I believe the dev might be Japanese... possibly...) While I did like the game, I would not recommend it for its base price (11€). This is mostly because the game itself is short (half of my playtime is from my minmaxing backtracking to get a 100% clear), but also because the slow pace and buggy mechanics can be frustrating at times (having to climb up human-sized staircases as a tiny crippled doll was a very unique form of punishment). I bought it at 50% off, and for that much I think it was OK. While the game has English localization, some of the in-game collectibles are manga which aren't translated, but that's a solved problem these days with phone image translation apps like Google Translate.
This has to be one of the best games I have played in a while. While not my normal genre of horror, I didn't regret trying this one out for a single moment! It definitely has plenty of content for the price they ask, and will keep you busy for at least a few hours, maybe longer for the completionists! I highly recommend this one to anyone who just wants to enjoy the time they spend in the game! Seriously, try it, you'll like it! Not just fun, but also has it's cute moments as well! Here's my playlist if you want to see some gameplay! I must warn you, I'm pretty cute in these videos! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtgUW4CLgeY&list=PL6wZqs9DoMHrtzo0og4yAmtO0OeH4jBWr&pp=iAQB
It's a fun but short game, there are only 4 levels + garden and final run section but it is a charming collect-a-thon game. Ichima-san runs very cutely and the minigames are fun, the dance one controls weird if you're using mouse and keyboard but it's adaptable. I wish there was more of it, looking forward for a future sequel or updates.
