About Impossible Soaring

Impossible Soaring is an intense test of flying skill. You score points by gliding as close as you dare to obstacles and surfaces. The closer you get, and the faster you move, the more points you'll score. Greater risk means greater reward! Keep your streak going to build up a combo multiplier for an even greater score. Do well enough and you might achieve a spot on the online leaderboards!
  • Gliding is physics-based, and you'll have to maintain your energy to stay airborne. Swoop and dive with grace and finesse to conserve energy, and fly close to objects and surfaces to restore it. The more energy you have, the faster you'll fly.
  • It's up to you to figure out your own flying style based on how much risk and excitement you're interested in. Play it safer and merely beat each level, or fly like a true daredevil in pursuit of higher scores and leaderboard positions.
  • Nine distinct, large levels, each presenting a unique environment to fly in. Towering mountain peaks, dense jungles, sunken ruins, and bizarre architectural monstrosities each aim to test your soaring skills in different ways.

Umm... excuse me, Steam? I've probably spent about 10 hours on this platform searching for games that are similar to Superflight and this one never showed up. This game is super fun although a bit shallow on the content. It's challenging for sure and grindy to get cosmetics. It's easy to get a few but to collect all would be grindy. I recommend messing around with the controls to figure out what works for you. Their default set up is really bad. By default they have yaw set to left and right trigger and roll set to analog left and right. Switch those and IMO the game becomes twice as fluid. Definitely a nice little game with 10ish really pretty maps. Shoutout to superflight by the way. If you're here you probably already know that game but if you don't you should check it out.

It's a fun little game , but the scoring is kind of hard to get anything above C in my experience. One hit and you die really, unless you bounce, which it's hard to do. This makes it less of a relaxing game and more challenging, which is counter intuitive to the gameplay loop. But I'd still say it's fun and worth a play.

TL;DR The game needs a boost button instead of automatically boosting. It is quite a boring game mechanically as is. I really, really wanted to like this game, when I saw it had energy management and free flight in it I was instantly sold. I've been looking for exactly that type of game for the last ten years. Sadly, after .3 hours of playing it I have to say, this is not it. The energy management in this is not energy management at all, its just "you get boosted when you fly close to stuff". There is no way to choose when to speed up, so you are robbed of that beautiful "management" aspect of energy management that makes so many other flight games worth playing. You are also not really incentivised to go up or down on most levels, so essentially the core gameplay loop of this game is, "fly down at the beginning and then level out and fly left or right to try to stay close to something." Which is a horrible gameplay loop for a flying game. The music is awful, I muted the music of the first level after about a minute because it was so harsh and annoying. The animations are awful. The textures are bad, but forgivable. The camera is AWFUL. I don't find many games that make me nause…

I really wanted to like this game... but it tough. Hard to learn, Hard to Master I was recommended this due to my love of Superflight. But the controls here are tricky. Keep in mind I know how to fly real airplanes, RC airplanes, Helicopters.. you name it. But for some reason this game its just very tricky to get used to the controls. Where with superflight it was never an issue from the start. Graphics I will admit I am a AAA game artist, so graphics are important to me. I unfortunately think the graphics are somewhat terrible. The textures are nonexistent, and the animations are weak and unfinished looking. I am sure there may be the response of "but its stylized graphics!!" Well, ok fine.. but to me this style looks unfinished. Gameplay In Superflight, there is no question when you do something cool and get points. You fly close to something, you get points.. you fly close and VERY fast to something, you get MORE points. Thats about it... With this game I am unsure. In the first level you fly though the Fan blades and get a big boost and points.. OK fine.. great! But if you immediately fly VERY close through some crack in a building.. you dont always get a point…

This is an okay game for what it is, though not as good as say something like Superflight or Fugl. I think the biggest issue comes with how odd the controls are / there not being an option to completely disable roll on your camera, which disorients you & hides game-crucial objects offscreen. Oftentimes many of my crashes were from getting camera screwed, as opposed to me messing up a maneuver. Not bad, but there's better stuff out there.
