Absolutely fantastic short experience. The artstyle of this game is easily one of it's best aspects that still holds up even to his day, but the stellar exploration and gameplay itself adds even more to it.1 found this helpful
A fun little metroidvania with a lot of cool ideas that could have been fleshed out a lot more. Review might sound negative, but that's mostly because the game made me want more of it. I enjoyed my time, but couldn't help feeling like a lot of mechanics end up being used only once or that various side paths appear blocked by some future ability when it turns out you already have what you need. It's not very obvious what you can and can't do with certain abilities, which is why this game can be frustrating if you are trying to collect everything or are going after the achievements. There is also a problem with many things requiring a level of precision that the game isn't equipped to handle, especially with bosses or hidden areas, so I couldn't help feeling that the game would benefit from tighter controls and a longer runtime. Easily could have been a much bigger game, though it's pretty nice if you want a shorter experience. Longer playtime is mostly due to trying to collect everything.
Ok totally hooked; runs great, check it out :)
While the multiplayer was not to my taste, as a Metroidvania fan I had a lovely time with the solo campaign. In a saturated market, it's nice to feel surprised by a few upgrades and area themes for a change. Free movement (e.g. swimming, in this case flight) is also something I don't see enough of.
I would recommend this game if you LOVE metroidvanias or you LOVE little spaceships (for some reason). The classic metroidvania formula is here, in a 4 or 5 hour experience. Collectables? Tons! Creative upgrades? Yep! Various enemies and areas? Absolutely! Great musical score? NOPE. (weakest part of the game) If you're kicking rocks looking for a unique metroidvania to fill your time, this will satisfy that urge.
If you want an immersive experience, creative gameplay, and fun puzzles, you'll have a blast with this gem.
