Interstellar Shore: Synopsis and Art Illustration
The Interstellar Shore Program |
ILIVE: The Illuminating Life-Intelligence Venture Engine
The project was initiated as an Art-Tech-Philosophical Transdisciplinary Experiment collaborated by students from MIT. Subsequently, young creators from universities and colleges around the world joined in this collaborative transdisciplinary experiment.
This timely avant-garde transdisciplinary work pioneers the concept of "life intelligence" with a metaphysical space odyssey. Surging atop the AI explosion of 2022, it elevates discourse and provokes thoughts on human-machine relations, even arrays alternative futures.
Via the Bridge of Myth and the legend of Interstellar Shore, Tabman and Shawn(you) set off to find new cosmic frontiers. You explore, climb, play, age, sicken, create, forget, pursue, and examine identity and existential question.
Echoing Heidegger, our essence lies in living "the question". Like art, this visionary work "brings the truth of Being to shine forth" — a digital-age satori unveiling reality as infinite self-discovery. Challenging Cartesian duality, it collapses inner/outer onto a Möbius strip threading through all infinitudes. Proposing technology as portal to awakening, this work generates insight into consciousness creating worlds anew with inter-enabling technology and humanity. Destined to shape the zeitgeist of generations to come.
The work invites people to examine ego, id, superego - and beyond. The solid story, ample details and tripartite metaphorical allusions make the experience profoundly provoking.
Hey, think about Tabman the name - anything new you are feeling now?

Interstellar Shore VR: I LIVE is a Free VR art work program that sort of reminds me of a college project. It worked on my Index and HTC Vive system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok, was Barely understandable. All the voice overs are in Chinese, most with Chinese and English subtitle, the subtitles go by too fast to read sometimes. Sound like they had multiple people to provide voice overs. The story was hard to understand. In the lobby, grab the middle Come symbol. The left symbol with space portal is a series of seven short projects. The right symbol with superheroes is Credits. Looks like an asset flip game. Don't bother downloading, if you don't understand spoken Chinese and written Chinese.5 found this helpful
"Interstellar Shore VR: I LIVE" is not a game. Games contain meaningful gamelike interaction and game loops, which are absent in this "art experience". Instead of being a game, "Interstellar Shore VR: I LIVE" is a software application that presents a poorly made art exhibition. The art exhibition itself is garbage of the highest order... a fancy (possibly asset flipped) esoteric flythrough of a bunch of environments while some philosophy gets badly misinterpreted and mangled into Chinese through Google Translate. We get this non-game shovelware on Steam whenever your usual Starbucks barista/McDonalds frycook art school dropout finally gets a restraining order from the local art galleries so turns to Steam Direct to try get their art published somewhere so they can finally dream of moving out of their parents basement. It's true that games can be art... art is where the pinnacles of craftsmanship and quality meet vision and narrative to create an experience far greater than the sum of the parts. This isn't a game at all, and the craftsmanship and narrative are terrible. This isn't making art better, it's just making gaming worse. For those unfamiliar with what actually make…1 found this helpful
Can be played on meta oculus quest 2. Could be an artsy story in unusual environments, but not worth playing though a too clunky implementation.1 found this helpful
Incoherent (if you don't understand Chinese) cinematic VR experience, that feels like it was made by AI. Subtitles are always undesirable in VR, but here they are straight up broken. They disappear very quickly, do not fit into the FoV of Reverb G2 and overlap in some cases. I have no idea what the plot was about after watching it for almost half an hour: those few subtitles that were readable made very little sense. Looking at environments did not help me to understand what is going on either. Most locations look like compositions of different unrelated assets - few of them actually look nice, but in general they look very busy and incoherent. In one of the scenes performance was terrible: constant stuttering made it unplayable on Radeon RX 6800 XT. Works on Reverb G21 found this helpful
