Jett Rider, developed by Last Chicken Games and published by JanduSoft, is a vibrant 2D action-adventure title that masterfully blends fast-paced shooting mechanics with exploration and RPG elements. Set against the backdrop of the fictional planet Gravos, the game invites players into the shoes of Jett, a space sweeper whose routine salvage mission quickly turns into a planet-saving quest. The story is lighthearted and packed with humor, providing a fun and engaging narrative that complements the energetic gameplay. The core gameplay in Jett Rider revolves around navigating diverse environments filled with enemies, obstacles, and secrets waiting to be uncovered. The combat is dynamic and challenging, requiring players to juggle multiple weapons and abilities while dodging attacks in a classic arcade shooter style. One of the standout features is the weapon upgrade and swapping system, which encourages strategic thinking. Players can find stations to switch out weapons on the fly, allowing them to adapt to different combat scenarios. Collectibles such as Golden Idols add depth by providing currency to purchase unique items and upgrades at the in-game Peach Store, further enhancing…3 found this helpful
This is such a brilliant game. Having grown up with Lunar Jetman and Jetpac, I adore this game. The aesthetics is great with the aquarium creatures in space. It has a kind of Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy vibe to it. Being a reboot of Willy Jetman (after Last Chicken Games fell out with their previous publisher) the improvements are great. Its even more vibrant. Love it.2 found this helpful
Imagine Solar Jetman, but fun to play, and you've just about got this. You have a jetpack that has some physics to it, and a wide variety of guns that you can upgrade. You can get some of the currency by killing baddies, but you also find it by mining crystals and recycling objects found around the map. You do also find a few upgrades here and there, but they mostly just aid in combat, rather than mobility. It's fairly linear, but you can revisit old areas, should you so desire. There are a few collectibles to find, but they're all useful; what doesn't give you more max HP or jetpack fuel will unlock bigger upgrades that can be redeemed in town, and you'll never need more than two to unlock anything. The challenge is just right, with a few spots that'll kill you, but none of it super frustrating. It can get a little grindy, but there's an area where you can make an absolute killing, and once you get some practice, you can knock out a run of that in about ten minutes. The visuals are cool and alien, with almost an MS-DOS look to them, though with much sharper, cleaner palettes, and the music is upbeat, blippy, and fun. If you like equal parts action and exploration, definit…2 found this helpful
Yup fun. The overall art just punches you in the face with how bright and detailed it is. There isn't a ton of music tracks but they are upbeat and unique enough to not get annoying when they pop up. Moment is slow and jumping is float-y, that said moving around with the jetpack is slightly faster so it's just something you get used to, i guess if you ever played Cave Story then its a similar feel. You can backtrack in areas but is otherwise fairly linear. You do the requirement on the current screen then move onto the next one, maybe just going back if you forgot to grab something. later on though it becomes less about doing tasks and more about getting to the next screen since some of them are intricate enough to be considered entire levels. Game isn't hard by any stretch of the imagination, but does have it's moments of slogging through enemies several times since a death sends you back to the last save point for better or for worse. Save points are plenty and take a fraction of a second to interact with so remember to do that, less you have have to do entire areas again. I normally don't replay games but i kind of bent that rule for this one since it doesn't take that l…
Lovely game! I played the demo on switch when it got released and I decided to pick it up on steam as I really enjoyed the demo. It's such a fun and pleasant game. Minor drawback is that there are some occasional drops in fps.
