JETPACK BIRDIE

A little game for one evening. Good character design, the inclusion of bullet time makes you feel like a neo with free movement around the world, quite challenging fights. Movement in three-dimensional space is unusual, but the ability to quickly take off and descend allows you to maneuver during fight. I did not like that the secrets and the coins received were not used for anything, it would be possible to give something for them at the last stage. It is also inconvenient to switch weapons, you have to read the name of the weapon, it would be better if the name were accompanied by icons. In general, it's fine game for that money.

I love jetpacks. I've loved jetpacks ever since [u]Dark Void[/u] and I picked this up because I wanted to experience that again. Sadly, it's just not very good. Flying around feels awkward because you rise automatically and you can only descend by hovering in place and waiting to fall. What's more, there's little tactical advantage to flying; enemies might not hit you as reliably but you can't shoot and fly at the same time, so you end up needing to slowly hover just to return fire.

A cool indie-gem with a jetpack) Jetpack Birdie is a short action game about fast jetpack flights and an escape to freedom, and it works really well in this compact format. The sound deserves a separate mention: music and effects fit the pace of the game nicely and help to sell both the feeling of speed and the slow-motion moments. There are also some easter eggs hidden around, which makes it more interesting to look around instead of just rushing straight to the exit.​ What hooked me most is the feeling of movement: flying with a jetpack, switching between air and ground, and adjusting your path on the fly feels genuinely satisfying, and there are not many games that focus on this kind of freedom in both air and ground combat. I’d really like to see this project grow — more levels or modes would fit it perfectly, because the core idea already feels solid and fun :)
