京葉線は全線開業が1990年とJR東日本の中では比較的歴史の浅い路線で、東京都の千代田区と千葉県の千葉市を結ぶ路線です。東京駅～越中島駅間の地下区間を除き、全線に渡って東京湾沿いの高架線を走行しているのが特徴です。沿線は東京湾の埋め立て地として再開発が進んでおり、ニュータウンのほか、テーマパークや大型ショッピングモール、オフィスなどがそびえたっています。
