About JumpBeard
JumpBeard is a tactical platformer adventure with one legged captain Rupert and his annoying companion Randy about leaping your way through challenging terrain in a search of mythical treasure. Every wrong jump counts and will make you fall back where you started.
Your adventure begins in small coastal city Tortuga. You will find out about mythical treasure on top of local fortress and you, as greedy and rumthirsty pirate must not miss opportunity like that. Jumping is your only way up. To get through various hand-painted locations with different mechanics in each of them.
You will need to prepare your mind, because only your skill and patience will decide!
Going up with simple movement
With wooden leg you can only do one thing at the time. You need to decide, if you want to move further by walking or jumping. But it takes some time to gather your strength to jump as far as you can. Thanks to your great physique, even bouncing off walls isn't impossible.
Falling down in style
Like every mortal, even captain must obey the laws of gravity, so think before you jump. Result of your jump depends only on you and your patience because your fall will be saved right away.
Interesting companions during journey
During your adventure you will encounter many remarkable people. Scottish prisoner, drunken trader, and many more will accompany you on your path of jumps and falls. Sometimes giving you another quest on your already painfull journey.
Getting better and better time
With every fall, you master the precision. With precision, your run might end up faster than your previous one. Don't worry, because you will always know your best time aswell as time of your previous run.
Many options will occur during your journey, that will change the rest of your captain's life. What are you waiting for!

Jump Beard is a challenging 2D platformer with charming hand-drawn visuals and a unique one-legged protagonist that demands precise jump timing and control. Players praise the game's aesthetic appeal and innovative bouncing jump mechanics, but widely criticize the extremely punishing difficulty even on easy mode, poor tutorial explanation, and unintuitive controls that frustrate players within minutes of starting.

JB is all about jumping; timing jumps, positioning before jumping, and gauging how long to hold the jump key down before release. JB has a sort of ricochet or bouncing that causes jumps to rebound upwards or down, depending on vertical velocity. It is a modest looking game with simple controls, but the difficulty on the easiest setting is pretty close to impossible for the average player. That is, JB will put patience to the test on the first level. The graphics look hand-drawn for the most part, but that doesn't really detract from the game itself. JB has very few options, the sound and music can be volume adjusted. There is a drunk effect toggle that seems to have no impact on the game play. Full screen can be toggled on and off. There doesn't appear to be any save game mode, although there is a continue option. So, it is possible to continue from wherever the player last quit the game. The keys cannot be remapped and are not explained anywhere. There is no tutorial of any kind or instru…4 found this helpful
If your enemy is secure at all points, be prepared for him. If he is in superior strength, evade him. If your opponent is temperamental, seek to irritate him. Pretend to be weak, that he may grow arrogant. If he is taking his ease, give him no rest. If his forces are united, separate them. If sovereign and subject are in accord, put division between them. Attack him where he is unprepared, appear where you are not expected. - RealPlayers Production, The Art Of Fall2 found this helpful

I received a free copy of this game via Curator Connect. While precision platformers aren't typically my thing, I was curious to see whether the much-mentioned one-legged protagonist would offer any interesting representation as a disabled character - so I recruited a friend who likes precision platformers to play it for a bit while I watched. (It did not, at least in the starting section.) My player lasted six and a half minutes before giving up in frustration at the unexplained, unintuitive controls and the punishing level design that destroyed all progress made in moments. I've rarely seen such an appalling first level in my time reviewing games, even though I consciously try to give amateur games that come my way a fair chance. Upon trying 'easy' mode rather than 'normal', we discovered that it's exactly the same level design, but simply adds in an essential UI element - a charge bar for the jump power. I was wryly amused to see that the preview videos have therefore had to be played on 'easy' mode, presumably because even the developer struggles to play the game in 'normal' mode with no indicator bar! Overall, this game is of such low quality it has no chance of justifying …1 found this helpful

An interesting game with retro OST and beautiful look. One of the biggest challenges I've ever played. TBH, I destroyed my keyboard... XD1 found this helpful
