KAAZ - Featuring Akilah & Zak

KAAZ - Featuring Akilah & Zak, developed by Karim HadjSalem and published by KAAZ LLC, is a deliberately retro-inspired action adventure that commits fully to recreating the look, feel, and structure of classic 8-bit era games. Rather than modernizing its influences, it leans into them almost completely, presenting an experience that feels as though it could have been released decades ago, only now made accessible on modern platforms. This commitment to authenticity defines nearly every aspect of the game, from its mechanics to its presentation, making it both a nostalgic tribute and a product that carries the limitations of its chosen style. The story centers on twin siblings, Akilah and Zak, who embark on a journey through a world shaped by imagination and childhood perspective. The setting blends whimsical elements with a subtle undercurrent of unease, turning familiar objects and playful ideas into enemies and obstacles. This approach gives the game a unique tone, one that feels personal and slightly surreal rather than epic or grand. The narrative itself is simple and does not rely on complex storytelling, instead focusing on atmosphere and the emotional framing of the advent…

A great classic NES Adventure. Neo-retro is where it's at.
