[h3]A fox, a monkey, a cat and a flying squirrel meet up in an inn..[/h3] This game really hearkens back to the SNES-era where mascot platformers were all the rage. Kemono Heroes takes that early 90s console magic and seasons it with a heavy dose of asian flair and what you get is an arcade adventure for up to four players each taking control of a diverse cast of characters to defeat the vengeful moon spirit threatening to encase the world in marble (or something similar). The story is told in cutscenes and, to be honest, made little sense to me, but I can confirm it relates to ancient warrior spirits, a weird thing on/in the moon and an ancient order of nuns/monks? Despite the lack of insight I found the lore quite intriguing, and even though the overall story might be something lost in a cultural limbo. On top of that I greatly enjoyed the different styles of the more commonly encountered enemies in these kinds of games. This game is a loveletter to every good platformer on the snes. All in a beautiful creative pixel art package. ive only used one out of 4 unique characters and that on its own makes it worth the pricetag. this is the true snes hidden gem youve been waiting for for 30 years.trust me...buy this game

In this game you can choose between 4 furries to play, a fox, a squirrel, a monkey and a cat. I choosed the cat and played the game on EASY mode. Yeah, it was easy and enjoyable, plus I liked the music. The movement, the fighting and everything feels good. The game is very short, but it was still a very good experience. There are also a lot monsters with different attacks. Its also a bit platformer-like. As a cozy gamer that also enjoys fighting games, I would say YES to this game.

Kemono Heroes (KH) looks and plays just like most of the megadrive and SNES games you may have already played, run, jump, dash, shoot, slash and so on, what makes KH a bit different is its up to 4 players local co-op, either on keys or gamepad, something that wasn't that common back in the 16-bit days. For the purpose of this review, I only played single player. You start off by selecting a hero from a choice of different animals, Fox, Monkey and a few others, they each have their own unique style and special skills, its not long before you're straight into the action, jumping platforms, slashing enemies, collecting, good old fashion retro fun. Platforming is fairly straightforward, you eventually unlock a grappling hook which again is simple to use, think bionic commando and you wouldn't be far wrong.
