Kingdom-Heroes

Kingdom-Heroes is an abandoned Early Access 2D retro pixel city builder/RTS game. Think Warcraft: Orcs vs Humans, but if it was really badly made, had bad graphics, shallower, clunkier gameplay, and wasn't finished but got sold anyway. Gameplay consists of what you would expect from a base builder/RTS, you build workers, build resource buildings, harvest stuff, go through a tech tree... this is a tried and true model for success, so the only reason this failed was, well, the developer simply didn't have what it takes and dumped out a garbage product. And acted unethically, more on that later. The game was in Development Hell for many years after launch (it's been in Early Access for a whopping FOUR YEARS) and now seems to be fully abandoned, it hasn't been updated in around 6 months. There's no reason to believe the game will ever be completed. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. Nice game! It's Early Access so it's to be expected that there is plenty of work to be done - especially on the UI - and the the campaign only has one chapter so far but I understand chapter two will be available soon. I died rather quickly in the skirmish mode, I'm sure I could beat it with practice though :-) In it's current state expect to be entertained for an hour or two, which is well worth it for the price. Looking forward to seeing how this progresses, it definitely has potential.

Great hidden gem of a game! Intuitive game play and fun interactions.

Abandonware. Tutorial is broken. Can only select 1 unit at a time, all units look exactly the same. Can only build archer or warrior. You're restricted where you can place a building. All buildings are the same size. There's not much to the game. 1 house = 2 workers, 1 barracks = 5 units 1 difficulty for everyone. It was always night time and raining for me. Game got boring fast. Got it in a bundle, should pay me to play this.
