Kingdoms In Chaos

"Kingdoms In Chaos" is a failed, abandoned Early Access attempt at making an MMORPG but with crap graphics. While the developers were unable to actually finish making the game, they had all the time in the world to try monetise it. What a surprise. What do you do in the game? Nothing, it's dead. The developers abandoned this 4 years and 9 months ago. It will never be completed. This unfinished game is just polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuinely, completely made games. In terms of visuals, this features fairly low quality low poly 3D visuals (and maybe flipped assets) which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and while some developers struggle with creating high quality visuals, failing to do so is a disservice to gamers. It's very difficult to recommend bad looking games. It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was charging $12 USD for this, so in case you were wondering if it's possible for people to be comedically delusional, the answer is "yes". It's not horrible for a F2P game(though the negative reviews aren't all wrong), there's just nobody playing, it seems. Or is it just because I'm in the starting area? The combat has a delay that can be kind of annoying - and I have a good internet speed, so it's not that. It would definitely be a pain in PvP. That's about it at this (lvl 8, 1 hr playtime)stage. Addendum: I was tabbed out to write this review, then went back to find out that I had seemingly somehow accidentally thrown away my arrows - unless they're not inexhaustible, but it never showed a number in the inventory. Backtracking didn't turn them up, they're 1000 gold for another stack, and I only have about half that...so I can't really continue. I think even the cheapest knife is too expensive. so I'm finishing up my review with this. I'm uninstalling. Not having a "discard/destroy item" confirmation-message function has spoiled my experience, personally. If the devs fix that, they might keep some players that don't otherwise say no to this title. I still recommend it, but it's a pretty tenuous yes.

Serviceable MMORPG by what appears to be a solo developer. Server worked when I briefly checked out the game last year. I added it to this year's queue for a more thorough review but since the reason for the negative review is no longer an issue, I'll change it to positive. PREVIOUS REVIEWS: Update: Server works now, so I'll be spending the next few days testing it out. Amended review coming soon! Original Review: I pulled this game up for my Steam multiplayer & MMO buy-to-play games audit series. Server appears to be no longer available. No bundled binaries or source for server-side components. Game is unplayable without a server. No news posting or other notice stating that this game, despite charging $4.99, is not actually playable. I contacted the developer on Discord and will update this review if I receive a response that results in me being able to play the game.
