The game starts off way too easy, and while it ramps up later, the lack of variety in debuffs and status effects makes the combat feel repetitive. One of the biggest issues is the sheer number of skills available—you can choose from five entire skill sects, which feels excessive. A more limited and focused skill selection would have made for a more strategic and engaging experience. Overall, it's a decent game, but the balance and depth of the mechanics could use some refining.

I've played the second part first, so I was quite surprised that while the mechanics and art are similar, the gameplay changes from a survivor-style game to an auto-battler. Once again, you start by picking a character from 11 options, which is already more than in the second game. Each character has its own boosts to certain attributes, while some also come with drawbacks and unique features that make them more viable for specific playstyles. For instance, one earns more money, while another sacrifices health in exchange for greatly increased damage. After that, you pick a difficulty level ranging from 0, which is essentially baby mode, all the way up to 7. A run revolves around defeating enemies and choosing rewards. Each wave contains several enemies that you fight one at a time, and at the end of every wave you receive a random selection of three perks, called kung fu, to choose from. You buy perks with coins earned by defeating enemies, but you're not limited to picking just one because you can buy all of them. For the price that I paid ($0.79/usd), there's a solid game here. It would be fair at full price, so the sale price is a steal. It's an auto-battler, but you structure your items and skills to move through your enemies with ease, or with a fatal miscalculation. Surprisingly fun!
