***SPOILERS!!!*** So I got this during a sale and I'm sadly happy I didn't spend more on it. The regular $24.99 price is way too high for this. You can finish it in a single night and honestly I wasn't a fan of the plot. The MC is pretty much a big problematic pervert. He wants to get into everyone's pants. I added the adult patch from the developers website to experience the full visual novel. Unfortunately 4 out of the 5 adults encounters are problematic in someway. One involves a character being unconscious so the encounter is non-consensual. Another the MC blackmails a straight character into a non-consensual encounter. Third one is so-so where the character the MC pursues isn't into guys but MC pretty much persuades him but it still feels off. Fourth is again so-so as the character MC pursues is bi but both are drunk when the adult encounter happens. The fifth encounter is the only one that seems remotely ok but still is a grey area. The character the MC pursues is gay but a virgin. So it feels more like the MC somewhat pounces on that. (Also to note since this is from Japan, all adult crotch bits are pixelated.) So overall there is a lack of any real charact…

💬 Supportive Caveat Content warning: this game includes nonconsensual and coercive sexual content. There is a scene involving sexual touching of a sleeping character, followed by solo sexual activity, which may be deeply uncomfortable or triggering for some players. Beyond that, the adult content frequently leans into grey-area dynamics, including sexual pressure, sexual blackmail, and impaired consent, rather than clear, mutual enthusiasm. The game also repeatedly frames MLM desire through shame-based and casually homophobic language, treating male intimacy as strange or aberrant rather than affirming. Additionally, it leans into straight-bait dynamics, with the protagonist engaging sexually with men who explicitly state they are straight and remain so throughout. This review reflects a partial narrative playthrough (through Chapter 6) because I simply lost interest. I then fast-forwarded through the remaining chapters, reading snippets, to complete achievements (because I’m an achievement addict, apparently). I also edited this review several times today because I was genuinely conflicted about how to be fair while still being honest about what didn’t work for me. I also want …

Characters are cute but the story was kinda all over the place and the English translation is shoddy. Just browse E6 instead

Lagoon Lounge: The Poisonous Fountain is an unusual blend of slice-of-life intimacy, supernatural intrigue, and adult-oriented romance, wrapped in a furry visual-novel presentation that is both warm and unsettling in equal measure. At its core, it tells the story of a weary protagonist who retreats to a coastal village after burning out from the pressures of daily life. What should have been a peaceful stay with an old friend quickly turns ambiguous when strange warnings begin to surface—particularly the ominous caution to avoid the village fountain at all costs. The calm, picturesque setting hides something rotten beneath the surface, and the game wastes no time in suggesting that the sleepy town of beastmen has secrets waiting to surface. It’s an atmospheric start that mixes relaxation with unease, setting the emotional tone for everything that follows. The narrative unfolds primarily through dialogue, relationship-building, and a series of choices that shape your path. As a visual novel, Lagoon Lounge places nearly all its weight on storytelling rather than mechanics, inviting you to build bonds with various villagers, learn their routines, and uncover their inner conflicts. I enjoy revisiting this game occasionally. I recently played it again because its sequel, Lagoon Lounge 2 - The Secret Roommate, was released. I needed a story refresh since I had completed this game years ago when it first came out. The story is simple but charming. While the characters' views on LGBT topics are outdated, it feels authentic when you encounter people who aren't knowledgeable about the subject. Overall, I find the story to be an enjoyable experience to play through. It's definitely worth replaying when I'm in the mood for it.

If only I could throw 100 yen into the fountain to be in Harusu. What a wonderful time it would be eating at the lounge with everyone :))
