It‘s more like a sort of compilation that puts both main Layers of Fear games plus the DLC Inheritance and a couple hours worth of new story content together into one more or less cohesive and connected experience with via Unreal Engine 5 updated visuals. That approach in itself is a decent chance for newcomers and longtime fans alike to (re-)experience the complete Layers of Fear franchise. The problem that turns this thing basically into a love-it-or-hate-it-affair is not the mostly unaltered content, but, just as in the originals, the gameplay itself. What the game does really well is building up a certain atmosphere. You can count the actual jumpscares in this whole thing on one hand (meaning that when they do happen, they are quite effective admittedly), but the real strength is the psychological aspect to it.
