Legends of Mathmatica²: Under the Shadow of Certainty is a humorous, retro style JRPG, featuring a 16-bit aesthetic, an active time battle system, old school puzzle dungeons, and a comedic storyline that is filled with word play and genre savvy silliness.
You’ll guide the protagonist, Hiro, as he travels the land of Mathmatica in search of the man who destroyed Six O’ Clock Town, Hiro’s home town. Like any good JRPG protagonist, our Hiro will gather a band of heroes and misfits to his cause, save a few lives and complete a couple errands along the way (Those cats won’t walk themselves!). And while our Hiro may not be the sharpest sword in the armory, his adventure savvy intuition grants him an uncanny knack for getting out of (and into) all sorts of crazy situations.
Friends in tow, and determination unyielding, our hero may just have what it takes to save the kingdom...or screw things up beyond recognition.

In a sea of RPG Maker and Gamemaker JRPGs it can be hard to stand out. Enter Legends of Mathmatica, an interesting almost satirical take on the traditional SNES generation JRPG. If you don't like tongue-in-cheek references, dad jokes, and puns, you're in for a bad time. I do recommend you not take the storyline too seriously (see satire) but the mechanics are solid. Rather than a traditional hp pool and ever rising stat numbers the creator uses a percentile system. It keeps the numbers simple in its base essence and keeps the balance of the game as you progress really smooth. The encounter system too is unique in that it uses a countdown which can be modified or even reset by items you can find or purchase in the game. As for each character's kit, techs are used using a tenacity pool that only increases when a character gets hurt. It means you have to carefully balance getting losing hp to gain tp while healing off the hp loss etc. Keeps you on your toes in combat. If you like traditional jrpgs and don't mind a lighthearted storyline, pick this one up.5 found this helpful
Interesting RPG with puzzles and silly puns. The story is silly, the characters are charming, the art and animation are fun, and the puzzles are challenging. I do think it's a little easy to miss the 'tutorial' segments if you don't know what you're looking for, though maybe I just missed some cues. If you enjoy the rpg styles of the classic final fantasy and golden sun, and don't mind the occassional puns and jokes, this may be the game for you!2 found this helpful
I tried out this game on Steam and from what I have played, this game is terrible. It has extremely DRY humor. Dryer than the James Bond's Martini. The percentages are WAY too confusing and the plot of this game is very very bad with the main character having to go after someone who he doesn't even know the name of. Even having 3 characters start off at Level 0 instead of Level 1 is just WAY too weird. The only thing I can enjoy about this game is that the people that made the music for this game, I have to give them props because the soundtrack is pretty good to listen to.2 found this helpful
