[54%] Knights of Jokes and Grind
The game was fun at first, when I was getting to know the characters, classes, items and so on. Once I’d gotten the hang of everything, though, it quickly turned into a grind fest. I played this and dropped it many years ago not long after it was released. I revisited it more recently around end of 2025 and pushed through the game. If I were to evaluate this game from the perspective of someone playing in 2013 then I would probably give it a better review and score than what it has received from me. Fact of the matter is I played this game well over 10 years after release and need to evaluate it based on the merits of today's audience. The game is ok at best. Very simple mechanics, gameplay loop and art style. I'm quite sure i muted the game at one point because i couldn't handle the repetitiveness of the music which admittedly is a product of limitations at the time, much like the art style. That said even though my playtime is 30+ hours, I can't in good conscience recommend this game, it is simply quite boring relative to other options available today. I give it a 5/10.2 found this helpful
This game does not hold up well. And it's SO grindy. Thought the paid version would be better balanced, but it still feels like a mobile game.1 found this helpful
Knights of Pen and Paper +1 Edition is a refreshing take on the role-playing genre that blends classic fantasy adventures with the social experience of tabletop gaming. Developed by Behold Studios and published by Paradox Interactive, the game stands out by allowing players to manage both the fictional heroes exploring dangerous dungeons and the group of friends gathered around a gaming table. This imaginative premise immediately sets the tone for a lighthearted adventure filled with humor, nostalgia, and numerous references to traditional pen-and-paper role-playing games. Instead of taking itself too seriously, the game embraces its quirky identity, resulting in an experience that feels both familiar and surprisingly creative. One of the game's strongest features is its distinctive character creation system. Players do not simply recruit warriors, mages, or rogues; they first select the personalities of the people playing the tabletop campaign before assigning each of them a fantasy class. Every combination offers different advantages, encouraging experimentation and strategic planning before the adventure even begins. Choosing the right player traits alongside complementary char…
Simplistic thrash that never goes anywhere and begs you to buy "expansion". Severly overrated.
This game is fun. It is a bit of a grind. Part of me wonders how much could possibly be improved in the second one, so I haven't tried it yet. But this one is solid. It's not gonna change your life, but it is fun.
