I think it is a very unique game that tells its story in a different way through letters and messages. I really like how I follow Sarah’s life step by step, almost like I am reading her personal diary while also helping her by solving small word puzzles. The gameplay is simple but creative because I actually move and change words to progress. I scan through letters, chat messages, emails, and even websites to find the right words, then use them to solve puzzles. Sometimes I can even break words apart, like kicking a word to split it into new parts, which makes the puzzles feel playful and satisfying instead of stressful. I also like how the story feels very personal and close. Sarah’s life is shown through her friendships, family conversations, and her pen pal relationship, which makes everything feel very real and relatable. The game also slowly shows her growing up, and it doesn’t shy away from more emotional moments, including struggles with mental health, but it still keeps a cozy and warm tone overall. When I was a kid I also used to write little notes and messages. Sometimes I would fold them and keep them in a box like they were something important. The game kind of brings …9 found this helpful
Does this even qualify as a game? This is more like an app store product
Really cute and sweet game :)
This game really surprised me. I wasn't sure what I was thinking when I bought it, but when I played it I found it really novel. I've never played a game like this one! You move around a bunch of text (a conversation, an article, an ad, a spam window, files) and solve simple puzzles to move characters out of your way to access new words on the screen. I finished it in two sittings. I think it was a little fiddly at times, but I didn't use a controller. That may have smoothed it out, not sure. When I picked it up the second time it felt much easier, so maybe it was on me. In any case, if this interests you, go for it, it's not a hard or long game. Blue ribbon <3 thanks, friends. HOWEVER~!! I will say that I didn't pay no darn $15 for this game, and it isn't worth that much. I played it multiple times to get all achievements, and have 3 hours on record (and tbh, I think I left it open a minute). There is no replay value. This is a $5 and under buy.
This game is so clever and creative! The puzzles are so good and well thought out, I love all the art and the story is so uniquely told! There are so many memorable bits and great moments and I ended up doing multiple playthroughs to try and experience all the narrative choices throughout. There's also a bunch of fun secrets you can do and I could tell the developers(s) really put so much passion into crafting this experience for us to play! Such a good game! I would definitely recommend giving it a shot!
Rec on sale. Thumbs up because the studio tried deliver something special here; storytelling and mechanics-wise. UI's polished. However, the story or the choices one makes within the story remain surface-level even as the protagonist grows older. We never get to know the other characters beyond a few lines. Moreover, despite the clear references to 2000s nostalgia,
world events from that period never have an impact on any of the characters even if there are from the impacted countries
. Overall, I appreciate that the team wanted to bring different stories and experimental gameplay mechanics to the industry. I wish the game's brevity (and hence the lack character depth) could have been mitigated through budget.
