Lillapad

I played this game as a part of my new "Freebie Friday" series, where I explore the steam page for free games to see if they're slop or not. The goal is simple, find 2 golden lotus petals to transform back into a human. The gameplay is easy but, I will say, feels jank at some points. The movement can feel floaty when jumping and the swing mechanic with your tongue was weird. The mechanic would have you click the LMB to propel you forward from a branch. The lower you were from the branch, the farther it would push you forward. I had a lot of trouble with this at first and I think a different approach would have been easier. However, I do give props for it being different than most swings in other games. The puzzles in the "levels" were straight forward and would use each mechanic nicely. There is 1 collectible type in this game which are red buttons. There are only 10 of them, which I found to be a great number for the size of the game. This game is genuinely adorable. The visuals are gorgeous, the world is full of charm, and the puzzles strike a great balance: tricky enough to make you think and coordinate your movements, but still intuitive and satisfying to solve. There are also collectible red buttons scattered around the map, which reward you for exploring and give the world a bit of extra depth. It’s a great touch that encourages curiosity without feeling forced. Unfortunately, I didn’t finish the game. I collected a few buttons and one petal before hitting the same wall over and over - the swinging mechanic. Most of my playtime ended up being spent trying to swing on the yellow leaf, and it just… doesn’t work consistently. I managed to swing on the first one, but no matter what angle or approach I tried, I couldn’t get the second one to register. I’m sure it is possible, but the mechanic feels so finicky that it becomes frustrating rather than fun. What makes it worse is how long it takes to climb back up to retry the jump. Missing it once is fine; missing it ten times because the swing won’t connect properly is where the enjoyment starts to fade.

A metaphor for the matrix (tadpole pill or frog pill), which Itself i don't think was a metaphor for anything . Cute game to play with a partner, good job! The leaf swinging mechanics were hard to pick up on at first, Idk if a kid could do that, but as a grown adult (60 years old) who is very smart (i have a job), it was actually fun to get the hang of. Havn't finished yet, but excited to finish it with my partner. Thanks for cute free game.

Pushing a lily pad: there should be some kind of stopper on the lily pad to ACTUALLY push it. I was having difficulties 'cause I'm pushing to end up getting on it with no way of steering it. Lastly I can't seem to reach another flower branch when 'tongue swinging'. I just end up stuck on one branch to then be flung sideways not forward swinging

A pretty cute game with some well thought out mechanics, especially for something free. Be careful with the movable lily pad, so you don't accidentally push one underneath things instead of beside them.

Nice little game about torturing tadpoles. The grappling is frustrating though, so I didn't make it very far before I turned the game off.
