LOST ORBIT: Terminal Velocity

I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. As a score chasing game, it has its merits. As a story/character heavy game, it fails completely. It feels like Pixelnauts was unsure of what kind of game to make, an arcade time-attack game, or a personal journey through space with an A.I. companion, and this dichotomy constantly gets in the way of the player's experience. I would have recommended if not for Terminal Velocity. I hated my time with Terminal Velocity and would recommend not even bothering with it if you do pick the game up. This game is pretty cool with just the right amount of challenge. Recommended.

Why do I have to play through the original game again before I can play this one.

This game rocks. I haven't beat it yet but it's one of those games that just begs for a 100% completion. Every level has things to collect and a speed run timer. So I'm playing through first to collect the gems, to then upgrade my character, so that I can do the speed run timer missions after. It's just a perfect gameplay loop. And actual moment-to-moment gameplay is so much fun. You just blast through spacey asteroid covered levels. Rocketing around is super fun. Even dying isn't so bad. It's brutal and you get an instant restart from your last checkpoint, which is amazing.

I didn't know what to expect before buying the game, I thought it would be too difficult. But in no time at all you can get the hang of it, and sweep through levels to beat your time records! It's fun, challenging, the dialog and story is amazing as well as having really catchy music. The dialog from your robot companion, Null, is hilarious every time you die. It's worth giving this game a go, and what's even better is that it's on sale!
