This game hits a certain memory cluster in your brain if you were on the internet without any money in the late 2000s, early 2010s, when you were on itch.io or ModDB downloading whatever free crap you could find to pass the time. Games like Amnesia The Dark Descent and Slender were basically creating YouTube culture as we know it, and everyone with a free Unity license was churning out "find 8 pages and run from the instadeath monster" like there was no tomorrow. This game is like a slightly spruced up version of your memory of those kinds of games, with everything that brings with it. The main gameplay loop, once you understand it, gets a rating of "oh that's interesting, I see where you were going with this." The 10 floors do start to drag on, it could have done with maybe one extra game mechanic to complicate things. Of particular note to me is the general art direction. You see enough games in the Steam Discovery Queue, you start to see all the marks of people that barely care or don't care at all and are just churning something out. That's not here in this game.
