About The Hotel

Do you remember when survival horror games were different?
When weapons and ammo were limited?
When "TANK CONTROLS" were a thing?
Or when there were only "fixed camera" angles?

Well then you'll love The Hotel!
Inspired by survival horror games of the last decade, The Hotel follows the story of Alex and Judie, as fate leads them to a dark and forgotten hotel while on vacation.

It's not long before they are plunged into terror and encounter zombies and other creatures. In order to survive, they must solve a series of puzzles, find hints, and grab all the weapons and ammo they can find. Will they be able to escape? Only you can decide.

The main game takes place in an hotel that has almost 90 different rooms to explore and secrets to find. You'll need to solve puzzle to progress through the story. Some are easy, while others are more tricky. Your ammo reserves will be limited, so you'll need to play smart in order to stay alive and escape.

The Hotel features two different routes:
At the beginning you will play as Alex. Once you finish his route, Judie will be unlocked and you'll play through a slightly different version of the story.

Finally, the choices you make along the way will unlock different costumes for your characters. Can you find them all?

The Hotel is fully compatible with Xbox(TM), Playstation(TM) and 8BitDo(TM) controller

This absolutely should not have been a commercial release. The controls barely function (and I don't mean that as a "tank controls" complaint, I mean the actual control response is basically broken and it routinely fails to recognize d-pad inputs). Animations are wonky and awkward. Collision detection is deplorable, both in terms of navigating the game space with loads of invisible walls and in terms of enemy range. Don't waste your time with this.

Absolutely unexpected banger. If you like classic survival horror, here it is. There's some minor jank, and movement is a little awkward on gamepad (takes adjustment even if you're used to tank controls, you get used to it though), but overall you're getting everything you want from this type of game and it's mostly all well done. I did not expect this to be as good as it is, and have no idea how it took me so long to find out about it, or why it isn't talked about more by indie survival horror fans. Side note, there are some game modes that claim "coming soon" as if this game is still has content in the works, but browsing through the discussions it seems the dev moved on a while ago. There is still a full game here with plenty to enjoy, including a full battle/mercenaries mode, but it's a shame the rest of the content probably isn't coming.

If you're just desperate for more survival horror than you can do a lot worse but I still can't recommend this.

This game is very well crafted, and throughout the entire playthrough I did not encounter a single bug. Its mechanics and overall atmosphere clearly draw inspiration from classic games with fixed camera angles and puzzle-based gameplay, while offering improved visuals. After completing the game with the first character, the option to play through the story with a second character becomes available, with an ending that differs from the initial playthrough. The narrative itself is a matter of personal taste. While the core idea does not feel particularly original, I found it interesting to explore the surrounding world and gradually figure out what led to the events taking place. The only aspect I did not enjoy was the arena mode; however, it is completely optional and unrelated to the main storyline, so I don’t see it as a flaw at all.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the game, and in my opinion, it stands as one of the strongest representatives of its genre.

I was loving the game however when I got to the staff room and saved my game it froze when I saved it! I shut the game down and when I tried to load my save hut it wouldn't load as of it was curupted 😭 my old save works just fine but I was way back at the start of the game Such a shame I'm gutted because I ain't going back, I'm still going to recommend it because so much effort was put into the game

Very well done. I really enjoyed this game, it's reminiscent of RE1 remake which is great as i love that game. I had wanted to play that but it's not playable on Mac but this is the next best thing. It was challenging to see some items in the dark but I managed, the puzzles were fun and the gameplay is solid. Would the creator consider making something similar to Dino Crisis? That would be awesome. I hope to see more games in the future.
