Lunar Eclipse

This game isn't what most people expect a horror survival game to be. Its more like a puzzle dress up game with lofi horror survival elements. Yes the story is dark, and yes there are zombies and horror elements, but this is not a combat focused survival game. This is a slow paced puzzle game with some combat. And the puzzles take some time and back tracking to find all the clues or find all the puzzle pieces to progress. The zombies are shambling dead, not Olympic sprinter dead. The combat is slow and clunky, which fits because you are playing as a 20 year old who has never had any form of self defense training what so ever. Which ties in with her sometimes cringe monologs, she doesn't have a lot of human interaction either. The game looks really good, and plays smooth on my system. With a solo dev, I am pretty impressed with how well it plays. I hope with a little more funding they can commission an artist to replace the AI posters and magazines. The character model looks great, and yes you can make her naked if you want. Crafting is pretty straight forward and simple. Just find patterns and loot materials from the zombies. Blending a tense atmosphere with such emotional resonance is no easy feat, but you executed it brilliantly. It was a absolute joy to play, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what you create next!

Lunar Eclipse – The Zombies Are Dead. Unfortunately, So Is Their Motivation. Let’s start with the good stuff: Lunar Eclipse actually looks pretty good. The graphics are solid, and the atmosphere works quite well in places. The female protagonist also has a decent sense of humor and occasionally pokes fun at herself, which makes her more likeable. The puzzles are a bit of a mixed bag. Some are genuinely enjoyable and actually make you use your brain for a change. Others, however, are so confusing that you eventually start wondering whether you’re solving a puzzle or accidentally taking an entrance exam for NASA. One thing that really bothered me, though, is the protagonist’s appearance. She looks much more like a 16-year-old girl than an adult woman. Considering her role in the story, that feels rather odd and made it difficult for me to take the character design seriously. But let’s talk about the real stars of the show: the zombies. These poor guys seem to have completely given up on life. Which is understandable, considering they’re already dead. Most of them simply stand around waiting for the player to show up. Listen I'm gonna be so real here. This game had so much going for it, especially for being a cheap indie game. The resident evil/silent hill inspiration was obvious from the start and in spite of clunky combat, this game was sorta fun to play and explore. Until the developer decided to change the entire game in the recent update. Puzzle solutions are different, puzzle locations are different, character models changed without player warning, and it feels like the dev woke and said 'eff it, i was this here now.' and no thought was put into it in the slightest. Every, and i mean EVERY, guide you'll find on how to play this game as well as every single walkthrough is going to be wrong now because the developer made a stupid decision and it results in you spending seemingly endless time running back and fourth through the same hallways to find a puzzle solution or piece of a solution or anything. Bad decision Black Rabbits Tale, very bad decision. If i were you guys id add a better way to track puzzle progress, an improved area map, and maybe even revert your puzzle solutions back to where they were an update ago. Shame on you.

Adorably compelling and heart-grabbing storytelling though a different perspective, with puzzles that require a moment's reflection without halting the flow of the story. Solid lore and narrative vehicle, without excessive repetition. Combat is there, but more as a story element than something excessively challenging, doesn't require much skill to overcome. Visuals are extremely polished, ambiance is absolutely nailed. Main character draws in compassion and encourages to succeed for her sake as much as the story itself, increabily humanized and personal with the world innocently seen through her eyes. Absolutely worth the time and investment and great hopes for the continuation of the story!
