About Machinarium

✦ AI summary

Guide Josef the robot through a gorgeous hand-drawn city to rescue his girlfriend from the villainous Black Cap Brotherhood by solving clever puzzles and brain-teasers. This award-winning adventure stands out with its charming robot world, wordless storytelling told through comic bubbles and symbols, and a beautiful original soundtrack that brings every rusty corner to life.

Help Josef the robot save his girlfriend Berta kidnapped by the Black Cap Brotherhood gang!

Machinarium is the award-winning independent adventure game developed by the makers of Samorost, Botanicula and CHUCHEL.

A little robot who’s been thrown out to the scrap yard behind the city must return and confront the Black Cap Brotherhood and save his robot-girl friend.

  • Puzzles: You will be solving many logical puzzles, adventure quests, brain teasers and mini-games
  • Graphics: Backgrounds and characters are 2D hand-drawn and there is more then one hour of carefully crafted animations
  • Music: Beautiful original soundtrack was composed and recorded by Floex (Samorost2 OST)
  • Communication: You won't find any lengthy boring dialogs in this game, characters talk by comic bubbles with simple animations and symbols

So only the art style and atmosphere (music) are carrying this game, while the actual gameplay is ass. Pixel hunting simulator with janky hitboxes + it’s never clear when the character can stretch and when he cant, which sometimes gets pretty confusing. On top of that, one puzzle was literally unplayable on a touchpad and the minigames are super boring and primitive - they feel like filler thrown in just for the sake of it. I have not played this kind of game before (only played deponia), but overall overrated and definitely not worth the price - game is too short

I really want to like this game. Unfortunately, on a Macbook Pro, the track pad control is completely broken. I can't click on anything without the game zooming into random parts of the screen. It's better with a bluetooth mouse, but on some puzzles where you have to drag things (like the puzzle with the 2 red and grey knobs that you need to swap positions), I can barely drag the knobs making it basically unsolvable
