Mad Television Tycoon

I don't really want to leave a negative review, but I don't see any point in lying to myself. Originally, I played Empire TV Tycoon (hereafter ETT), which I really enjoyed. I expected the same from MTT, but unfortunately, the game turned out to be less interesting. MTT has a very vertical gameplay structure, but it lacks the horizontal depth. What I mean is that in ETT, you had a fairly wide range of strategies. You could hire specialists who affected different aspects of your game: someone could let you produce your own movies, someone could boost your audience, someone could improve advertising rewards, and someone else could reduce the risk of getting penalized for pirated movies. The target audience system was also an interesting strategic choice. In MTT, however, there’s basically only one path: hope you find a better movie or advertisement before everyone else, grab it first, and complete the objective. That’s it. There is progression, but it’s purely linear—you do everything correctly, unlock stronger tools, and continue along the same path until the end of the game. No real updates since it came out, its a bit of a lazy ai mess at the moment with a few changes to the original formula but nothing exciting. Have been waiting on updates but only small bug fixes have come since april. Might be a good Mad TV game in a few years but for now its a hard miss

As much as I love TV Managers (to the point of learning German to play MAD TV 2) and have played them since Amiga times, I simply can't recommend this game. I know this is early access, but it seems the DEVs have fallen in the same trap as with MAD Games Tycoon 2. Metaphorically speaking, they found the optimal slider settings, and they just pump one game after another with absolute zero innovation. And making a faithful copy / homage to MAD TV would usually be a good thing - except there are at least a dozen games which do it better. And the devs don't even understand the original game MTT is purely economical, while MTV had you balance the financial success with courting Betty. It is (too) early access, so I won't even complain about missing features, like everything except the most basic own show production. To summarise, unless the devs put much more work into the game, do yourself a favour and buy a more established production, or even go with the open source project.

game is very addicting, however the gameplay loop becomes repetitive fast. once you find the optimal time slot for each type of show, you pretty much limited to scheduling the same shows / types of shows over and over again if you want the best results. there's not much in the way of new formulas or experimentation with the channel's schedule - there's really only one best strategy

I have absolutely tried to play this game so many times, I JUST CAN'T GET INTO IT! I waited for so long for this game to be released after its announcement and I can't tell you how disappointed I was to play it once it was released. The levels/platform idea with lifts just doesn't work and has already been done so many times. The game just feels overstimulating and confusing. I LOVE MGT 2 to death, this game would've worked so well if it follow the same game design but improved on what MGT 2 was built on obviously. Maybe one day. But for me the game is just not fun and seems too complicated to even perform basic task. The game also does a horrible job of presenting the tutorials.
