So much better than Game Dev Tycoon.....not even close.1 found this helpful
I often hear people refer to Game Dev Story (Kairosoft) and Game Dev Tycoon (Greenheart Games) as the original games that led to a sub-genre of game and software development games. Perhaps they did but the culmination of those early efforts came with Mad Games Tycoon. One thing I never enjoyed about GD Story and Tycoon is how bad the RNG could get and the black box nature of the mechanics which made them feel unfair after a while. Mad Games Tycoon doesn't pull any of that over your eyes, you have a pretty solid idea of where you went wrong and what you can do to improve next time. Progression makes sense and whatever you unlock has a meaningful impact on your ability to manage, sell and make money off your games. This game just clicked really well and did a great job selling the feeling of managing a game studio. Great fun if you are into management games, I give it 8.5/10.
Relaxing fun game development simulator. It has it's flaws but for what it is and the price I absolutely recommend it. The game starts in 1980 in your garage and move on from there. I had a lot of fun before moving on to the sequel, the music loop is surprisingly good. There are many ways to keep the money flowing, the best I found was creating sequels to my IP's and the occasional mmo of them. I didn't much like the micro management of self production so I only used that to re release bundles and budget versions of my IPs. It's a great little game.
