Mage Mayhem is the kind of roguelike I found easy to jump into because the central idea is so enjoyable. I get to play a mage, choose abilities that shape my build and then throw increasingly ridiculous amounts of magic around the battlefield. I liked how much freedom there is in deciding what kind of spellcaster I want to become, especially because the different classes give the game very different personalities. The class system is one of my favorite parts. There are several distinct choices, including elemental mages, a druid, assassin, pirate captain and paladin, and each one comes with its own selection of abilities. I enjoyed experimenting with different combinations because I can create builds that feel completely different from one run to another. The roguelike structure makes this especially satisfying because the upgrades I find during a run can turn an ordinary build into something much stronger. The combat is fast and chaotic in a way that suits the name perfectly. I have to keep moving, avoid attacks and decide when to use my abilities while enemies are attacking from different directions. utter trash. its a 'combat sim'.. nothing more! NO RPG elements whatsoever..skills are pathetic and graphics are from the 80s! no idea why ppl gave it a positive review.
