Malody V

Not entirely sure why you'd play this for 4k, taiko, or catch when free and more popular alternatives exist, but Malody V is currently the only good way to play Jubeat on PC so I'm giving it a 10/10 just for that. The cube and lovelive thing is cool too.

Honestly, this is the rhythm game I keep coming back to. Not because it looks flashy or has some big budget behind it, but because the community just keeps feeding it new content non-stop. Been playing 4K mostly, but there are so many modes—Taiko, Catch, Ring, you name it. People out there making charts for everything, from random Vocaloid tracks to super obscure stuff I never expected to see in a rhythm game. The chart editor is actually decent too, so the quality is all over the place in a good way—some are pure memes, some will break your fingers. One thing though: the Steam version needs you to manually add a community server to get songs. It's a bit of a hassle if you're not used to tinkering, but honestly it takes like 5 minutes and the forums have step-by-step guides. Totally worth it for the sheer amount of free content. Customization is solid too—skins, keybinds, timing windows, you can tweak almost everything. Feels like a sandbox more than a "game" sometimes, and that's exactly why I like it. Not perfect, UI feels a bit dated and the setup might scare off casuals, but for anyone who actually enjoys rhythm games and doesn't want to pay for DLC packs every month, this …

I mean it's alright, some UI elements kinda lack clarity, I had to manually adjust my offset on every single chart, I couldn't find a universal offset anywhere in the settings. but overall, the game is alright, I liked all the game modes.

Initial impression, not bad. I didn't play the previous version so I don't really have anything to go off of for that. I'm not a particularly good rhythm game player and I was able to complete easier charts on the included songs without too much trouble. I tried a few of the different modes and they worked well, although I had to look up what the keybinds were in the settings as there isn't much of a tutorial for that (or I somehow skipped it). I even got my display tablet touch screen working for the touch based modes. It seems to have a pretty good selection of songs in the store, although before you start trying to load up on them the game has a gold system, probably to make it feel more arcade like. I didn't know that though so I quickly ran out of the gold I started with which is a bit annoying. It seems like I'll have to wait until tomorrow(?) to get more gold, or I could try to complete some of the Dailys and Quests (play X maps, etc). It does at also have a button to import maps if you've got them, so that is one work around to avoid the issue.
