Master of the Wizards is praised for its charming art style, creative spell mechanics, and multiple win conditions that create unpredictable, entertaining gameplay with good humor and personality. However, players consistently criticize the lack of clear tutorials and explanation of core systems like the turn structure and resource management, making it difficult for newcomers to understand despite the simple underlying mechanics, alongside placeholder content and minimal audio design typical of early access.
Despite being an early access game, Master of the Wizards provides a crazy fun experience with a great amount of content, so far seems promising! Game packed with fun, wacky humor and easter eggs XD It's a card game with simple mechanics, but done very well til now. In this game, you will try to become the Master of the Wizards by eliminating all your opponents or becoming famous for your magic deeds throughout the lands. Stands out in visual style with lots of personality! An absolute treat! And an excellent addition to the genre, definitely worth trying! I can't wait for multiplayer mode to slaught all my wizard friends!7 found this helpful
Interesting indie card game, the gameplay can be really peaceful to chaotic in a few seconds. Pros: - Game has a cool spell chain mechanic that makes things unpredictable. - Art style and themes are funny - I've spent some time laughing at the names and illustrations. - Different ways to win a game. - Rng factor to the spells - helps to avoid a meta game and forces you to experiment more. Things that needs some attention: - It takes some time to understand the game turn system. - There are some placeholders in the game, since it's an early access.7 found this helpful
Uhm. So the first thing I noticed when starting this game was that there was no tutorial, no introduction, and no sound effects other than the very repetitive and mediocre music. My turn started and was immediately confused. Keep in mind I have played multiple different card games before. I didn't know what to do and couldn't play any of my cards. There weren't any notes or helpful tips how to play, what your resource/mana is or does, or anything. I feel bad being harsh because this game literally just came out so there's still a lot the developers can do to make the game better, but for right now, this game looks and feels like a mess, and is not beginner friendly or intuitive at all. Edit: I just noticed that there actually is a button you can press to start a tutorial, but I think it would be better if the game immediately put you in a tutorial from the start, because I didn't notice it at all when I was choosing my character, I just wanted to jump into the game.
