About Mediterranea Inferno
A treacherous visual novel about friendship, desire, and grief.
What’s better than a sensual summer retreat in the South of Italy? Join Claudio, Andrea, and Mida in their travels as they try to recover from the collective trauma of the 2020 pandemic.

Three young men in their early 20s reconnect after two years of forced isolation, hoping to rekindle their friendship; an exceptional bond that made the trio truly special! A mythological force well beyond the sum of its parts! Or so they think…

As you pick their activities for the day, you’ll discover their darkest fears, their obsessions, and, as the reality of their failed expectations become apparent, their thirst for revenge and retribution.

A lazy afternoon by the pool, a lustful night at the club, or even a morbid visit to the local cemetery: you’ll decide how to spend this summer vacation, but wherever you go, something or someone will be waiting, offering an additional, forbidden trip through the arcane inner spaces of conscience.

Eat the Fruit of Mirages and fight for your endless summer!

I haven't finished this game because it felt like a bundle of all possible clichés around queerness, mental health, substance abuse... There are a lot of great themes but they all feel so stereotypical, and frankly at times kind of offensive. The 3 main characters are walking archetypes, both of the cliché gay men calling themselves "guuurls" and "sluts", but also regarding their own stories. You've basically got the addict with self esteem issues, the sex-obsessed dude in search of companionship, and the queer young man who keeps saying he needs to "find himself" and "find out who he is". I stopped after about an hour of playing because frankly I didn't see the point of it. Because the characters are so shallow it's difficult to be invested in their storyline, and the gameplay is too slow to make up for it. As a queer man, this feels like a poor attempt at tackling subjects that require much more nuance, and that's why it felt almost offensive at times. When I see a LGBTQ+ tag in 2026 I expect complex characters, not a 3x copy-paste cliché of the effeminate twink with affective/substance/identity issues. Perhaps the story and characters get better with time but I don't want to h…6 found this helpful

At first glance, the game appears to be about three queer friends reuniting after the COVID lockdowns. That description is accurate, but it barely scratches the surface of what the narrative is trying to accomplish. The pandemic is present throughout the story, yet I never felt it was the true subject. Rather, it acts as a catalyst, forcing the characters to confront wo…5 found this helpful

Finished in an hour and I had no idea what I was looking at. 3 messed up gay friends with wild lifestyles and you eat cactus fruit to get high, unlock extra scenes with sexual scenes or hints. The dialogue is somewhere between inspiring and ridiculous, the visuals feel surreal. I had the neutral ending, nothing serious happened, I gave up on other endings since no skip key. The art style is kinda interesting, mostly the reason I gave it a positive, along with the low price. Interesting concept for a visual novel. Didn't read the tags prior to playing and the horror caught me off guard. Overall I enjoyed my playthrough but don't feel compelled to do more playthroughs. I liked choices presented and felt the ending I got was satisfactory. Graphics are fine for what they are. Some gruesome images in the video game that I was unprepared for and toeing the line of getting close to nudity but not showing anything. Not much gameplay besides clicking on the screen and reading dialogue but that is to be expected with a visual novel game. Overall, I'd give this game a 6/10. For 15 bucks i don't recommend but if you get it on a discount then its a fun ~4 hours.
