We Know the Devil

While a lot to like in this game, it falls through in missing some crucial QOL improvements many other VNs offer as a baseline - - No autoskip of previously read text (There is an 'auto' option but it is incredibly slow so wasn't worth using) - No text speed options - No ability to edit the audio (Which will occasionally play earsplitting jumpscare sounds) These combined made it a frustrating game to play even if short. If those features were to be added, the review would be changed to a positive, but for now be warned.

I wasn’t impressed with the writing and that’s why I quit playing after maybe an hour. If it gets better later it didnt do enough to get me intrigued or to care for the main cast of three. I only kind of liked one, and the other two were very forgettable. I do like the hand drawn art, but that alone wasn’t enough.

A short, but worthwhile visual novel. Sure, it is a bit clunky with certain mechanics, but considering you don't need to spend hours and hours to go through all the content, I don't think it's enough for me to care. The story it tells is impactful, even if you don't necessarily relate to any of the girls (although me having knowledge of the game prior to actually playing it might have made less of an impact on me... but that is really just a me thing, if you do not know anything about the game, go play it by yourself, you won't regret it!!) It is always important to remember that no matter what, you deserve to openly be yourself and you are never a burden for doing so. The soundtrack is absolutely wonderful too, it matches the atmosphere of the game really nicely, and [spoiler]Incense (Smoke & Honey), the track that plays when one of the girls finally lets the devil in, is probably the one that had the most impact on me.[/spoiler] I would recommand purchasing the game while on sale, but the default price doesn't feel too expensive to me (and honestly, having the game usually costs $6.66 is pretty funny i think)

good game! the story is interesting and doesn't overstay it's welcome (despite requiring a lot of reading the same stuff again, as is sadly common in visual novels with multiple endings). the characters are all equally likeable and compelling. i do wish there were options to adjust the sound and to toggle windowed/fullscreen but i can live with it.

This game deserves a lot more positive reviews.
