Strange game. The intro story is unnecessary and confusing because the actual game is a very simple, Lemmings-like, one-button couch coop game. That's fine for a few minutes with kids...but not worth the price of admission.

My Experience Although we haven't finished Melbits™ World quite yet, I think I've seen enough to competently review it. First off, I must call attention to what developer Melbot refers to as the game's "kawaii aesthetics." The game is filled with pastels and bright, bubbly music, and you can dress up the Melbits™ that you navigate each level with hats, bowties, poofy tails, etc. At the conclusion of each level you get to watch your Melbits™ dance, and this never failed to elicit an "oh my god they're so cute!" from my co-op partner. As for the actual game, each player is granted control of different apparatuses in each level. These can be many different things - bouncy springs, rotating logs, elevators, fans, etc. The simplest of these are simply moveable blocks that close one path and open another. Although you're attempting to control the different apparatuses to help the Melbits™ reach the end tube in a given level, you can also reroute them to collect what the game calls "seeds" (and what my co-op partner and I call "tofu" or "potatoes," respectively) and presents. The presents unlock an additional cosmetic item to equip on your Melbits™, while the potatoes se…

Melbits World developed by Melbot and published by Plug In Digital is a charming cooperative puzzle-platformer built around teamwork, environmental manipulation, and a whimsical digital universe. The game centers on guiding small digital creatures known as Melbits across vibrant stages filled with traps, puzzles, and moving platforms. Instead of directly controlling the characters in a traditional platforming sense, players interact with the environment to help the Melbits reach their destination safely. This indirect control system gives the game a unique identity, transforming each level into a puzzle where timing and coordination are more important than reflex-based platforming skills. The premise takes place inside a stylized digital world where tiny creatures called Melbits live within electronic devices and networks. These adorable beings represent positive digital energy, spreading harmony throughout the internet and technological systems. However, their world is constantly threatened by corrupted data and hostile digital entities that disrupt this balance. Players take on the role of protectors who must guide the Melbits across hazardous environments, ensuring they avoid o…
