About Mercapolis
You´ve just been fired from a major supermarket chain..
Now build your own and show them who´s the boss!

Organize and build the different structures wherever and however you want.
You'll have at your disposal various types of structures, such as shelves or workstations, to expand the range of products in your supermarket, such as quality meat, the freshest fish, or a delicious cheesecake.

Manage your time and your product stock daily.
The day will pass quickly, and you'll need to ensure that your shelves are always full. To do this, manage the warehouse, expand it with each upgrade, and hire employees to automatically stock products during the day.

Use your manager intelligent and hire the best employees.
Each employee will be different from the last. You'll need to use your eagle eye to distinguish the best employees for each task, assigning each one a primary and a secondary duty. Oh, and don't forget to pay them their salary!

Every day is different in Mercapolis, adapt to each day as if it were the last.
Various random events will occur during the day, and you'll need to be prepared as a manager to face them. Robberies, fires, or even health inspectors issuing fines if you're not vigilant enough.
Project made for the Espetos Studios in Interactive Product Design degree of U-tad, University of Technology, Arts and Design.

Mercapolis is a city-building game that takes urban development to the next level, blending intricate strategy with stunning visual design. The futuristic city setting is visually impressive, with towering skyscrapers and a sprawling metropolis that you can shape and grow. It’s a game that allows you to be both the architect and the ruler of your own city, giving you the freedom to design everything from the ground up. The core gameplay revolves around managing resources, building essential infrastructure, and keeping your citizens happy, but what really stands out is how dynamic and engaging the city-building aspect is. The buildings are highly customizable, and the mechanics behind them allow for a lot of creative freedom in planning your city. As you expand, you’ll face new challenges, from economic balancing to the welfare of your population. One of the most enjoyable aspects of Mercapolis is the level of detail that goes into the management of your city. Each decision you make has a tangible impact on the growth and success of your metropolis. Whether it's ensuring there's enough power for your skyscrapers or solving traffic jams, every challenge feels rewarding to solve. T…124 found this helpful

"Mercapolis" is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. It's from U-Tad. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" made games, we must still question what value such projects have for gamers. As with all student projects, this isn't really a fully fleshed out game, it's just the result of an academic exercise, and as such it has much more limited value as a game than a professionally developed game would have. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments (especially if the students didn't even pass the course). Sure, it helps their marketing and helps the students feel good about themselves, but this is another case of a business putting themselves before the needs of gamers. The students at least made something interesting, but once more the potential of the game is ruined by the nature of student projects... no extensive depth, and a slew of ground breaking bugs that will never be fixed. This is 2 Point Hospital but from Temu, and with a supermarket tycoon gameplay rather than a hospital one. And, you know, while it might not be everyone's cup of tea, there's already much…1 found this helpful
I'm currently doing a challenge to play through a free game in every single category on steam. I then give an honest review using ChatGPT.
Game: 71 / 447 Category: Time Management "Time Management Meets Chaos" This game has potential, but random events turn it into an exercise in frustration. My store burned down over 100 times, and there was nothing I could do to stop it. Fire? Unstoppable. Health inspections? Always failed. Spray can kids? Ignored them and paid the $50 cleanup fee—it was easier than trying to keep up. Paco, though? He worked hard. A real MVP in a sea of chaos. The graphics are cute, but unfortunately, they’re not enough to save a game where misfortune seems baked into the core experience. If you love time management games, this one might give you a few laughs, but don’t expect to make it very far without feeling like the world is out to get you. Meh overall.
