Mid Death Crisis is a strategic, turn-based couch co-op game designed for three players. Play with two friends to strategically redirect, and empower the lackluster spells sent out by Zeb. Each of the three players commands a skeleton with a unique set of skills, adept at their own tasks. Just one can’t take on an army, but with many your might can grow to even surpass that of the Lich himself!
Each of the three skeletons, the Zealot, Thief, and Warrior, have learned abilities from Zeb. The zealot is a master of damage, amplifying spells to the fullest of their potential with deranged genius. The thief is all about positioning, a magic-juggling aficionado who never misses their target. The warrior is a master crowd controller. Choose your favorite and work directly with your teammates and discover which loadouts mesh well with others to perfectly defeat the waves of enemies that come your way!

Zeb's crypt has fallen under the invasion of The Rana Empire, a formidable species of frogs intent on claiming his domain. As Zeb's sorrow saps his magical abilities, players, serving as his most loyal minions, must harness, empower, and strategically redirect his spells to their comrades, enhancing their collective strength. By overcoming hordes of frog enemies, escorting Zeb through his crypt, and rekindling his malevolent passion for evil, players confront the trials of the Mid Death Crisis.

[i] My Experience [/i] I played [b]Mid-Death Crisis[/b] with a few friends of mine recently using Steam's Remote Play Together feature. To be honest I can't recall playing another game like it, but perhaps there are some obvious comparisons I'm missing. In the game, you're using skeletal minions to power up the spells of the weak lord Zeb to defeat the frog-like enemies of the Rana Empire. Unfortunately, you're asked to make class and spell modifier choices before you become aware of their significance. Each character has a stamina bar that they'll use both to move around the arena and to power up Zeb's spells. You'll want to move your characters around as little as possible, but still enough to create the angle needed to hit your enemies with the spell. The amount of stamina used to power up a spell is determined by the modifier chosen, but also by the angle used in sending the spell forward to its next destination. Redirecting a spell to instead travel in the opposite direction uses more stamina than sending it along the same line it was travelling when it reached your character, if this makes sense. "Mid-Death Crisis" is a local multiplayer/co-op, and I'm gonna call this a sports game even if that's not the theme, defense game where you and two friends pass the ball to each other and then kick the goal. Except the ball is a spell, and the goal is a bunch of frog enemies attacking your evil master's dungeon. And you're skeletons. Look, just go with it. The gimmick is that each skeleton "class" has different powerups and when you get handed the ball, you choose which powerup and which direction to pass it. Getting the right powerups and the right direction will let you kill the most enemies and succeed. Okay. It takes longer to describe the premise for the game than actually play it, not least because the developers couldn't work out how to do online multiplayer or matchmaking, so this has no players (it was a failure). Imagine making a game in 2024 and not knowing about the internet. Someone should send a letter to Coop Loop Studio and tell them about AOL or something. The game assets here look a lot better than the actual game they're assembled on... that doesn't mean this is necessarily an asset flip or a kitbash, because there's no proof.
