It's a cool idea, but shifting between forms and loading abilities does not feel like a proper traditional roguelike because it is difficult to make the options feel useful, and there are limited creatures. There's decent art, an ok item system, typical procedural levels, but it doesn't really all come together into a usefully coherent new roguelike adventure. I don't feel like I'm building my guy or roleplaying; I kinda just feel like I'm doing pokemon in Dungeons of Dredmor with no jokes. Controls and interface need work. There are too many better games in this genre for this to be eight years old. I tried.2 found this helpful
I had this game for years and i never left a review?! One of the best and most creative traditional roguelikes available
the main system is that you play as an imp that can possess bodies of creatures you defeat. then you level up those bodies, gain abilities, and can bring those abilities to your imp body (and to a lesser extent other bodies you possess). it's a lot of fun, the way the systems work together is interesting.
great game - totally recommend it! specially at the great price!
Traditionals should be fast. Controls are fubar. The cutesy stuff got to go. Stick with mechanics, that's core to traditionals, no one cares about what you think politically, no one cares about your humor. Traditionals are the last place I go for real gameplay without the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. This has ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. But overwhelmingly, the controls ... dude?
just read thesheep's review but basically: if ur a newb at rogue games like me n they're not rlly ur thing prob don't get it - if u like the reincarnated as a slime anime like me this should really be ur jam which leaves me feeling mixed on top of the easy n tedious re-grind to power after every death until u get back to the harder part, the grind is just time consuming and ur deaths hardly make u stronger since it's a roguelike not lite
