Garbage controls. Garbage camera angles. No reverse. What car doesn't have reverse? What a stupid game.

Midnight Thunder Drive by Runebox Studios is a neon-drenched arcade racer that builds its identity around speed, atmosphere, and a clear devotion to retro-futuristic style. Rather than chasing realism or deep simulation mechanics, it embraces a more immediate, almost hypnotic approach to racing—one where glowing highways stretch endlessly into the night and the hum of synthwave music becomes just as important as the feel of the car beneath your control. The result is a game that feels intentionally narrow in scope, but also confident in the experience it wants to deliver. At the center of the gameplay is a simple but effective driving loop built on drifting and boost management. Players are encouraged to slide through corners with precision, building up energy that can then be unleashed in bursts of speed that propel them forward with exhilarating force. This is suprisingly a fun game to play and master. The menu controls are a bit clunky (better don't use the mouse, only arrows and Enter and it will work fine) and there is a bug which glues you sideways to the wall if you crash too hard. This rarely happens though and you can usually just reverse a bit and be on your way. Hidden gem, needs some polishing here and there though. I hope more people will give it a chance.
