mike's garden is an excellent take on the classic color lines from 1992, where the goal is to line up 5 or more of the same thing (plants in this case) by moving them around on a grid, as long as the path is clear. if no match is made, a few more plants will appear randomly in the next turn. once the board is filled, it's game over, man. a recent example I played and enjoyed was magic bubbles but this one is more involved. it's endless score attack with a leaderboard and an isometric view. thankfully, no need to mess with the camera. no undo either, but due to the nature of the game it wasn't a dealbreaker. if it had hand-crafted puzzles, it'd be a different case. still wouldn't hurt, of course. simple mouse controls, left click to select, right click to cancel. no hotkeys, might happen at some point. the learn to play section explains the basics and provides some hints and other useful info. missing mid-run saving was patched in before release, so you can quit anytime and continue or start a new one next time. a point calculator would be very useful, to see…
Plant Lady is the new Cat Lady
In Mike's landscape, players join Mike on a delightful puzzle-solving journey as he struggles to keep his once-tamed landscape under control. The principle is simple yet compelling: you must deliberately match species, creatively use equipment, and link combos to maintain order and survive as long as possible among the increasing vegetation. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3225194508
Gameplay
The gameplay mechanics are inspired by the traditional color lines concept, which is evocative of early 1990s games. To make room for more plants to grow, the goal is to line up five or more of the same kind on a grid. But when new plant types are added, it gets harder with every turn, forcing players to modify their tactics for the best scoring and garden maintenance. By playing you can unlock all sorts of things, like handy tools to make your garden life easier or unlock 30 seeds to create a beautiful private greenhouse. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3225194508
Graphics & Sound
The game has bright, fun graphics that make the garden come to life in great detail. The isometric angle…

A fresh take on the match-5 puzzle genre, you create rows of 5-or-more plants by selecting them and moving them to a new, unblocked location. A game that is seemingly simple on the outside, but has a surprising amount of depth. There's plenty of strategic decision-making and control for the player in a game that can otherwise get overwhelming pretty quickly. You're heavily rewarded for smart use of tools (power-ups), keeping tabs on the upcoming plants, and thinking ahead about plant positioning, in order to set up high-scoring combos and avoid getting blocked in. Graphically, everything is very clean and polished, with lively animations and lots of flare. The UI is minimalistic but displays all of the important information in a non-intrusive manner. The music is also very nice and relaxing and sets the mood of the game just right. The tools and plant skins you can unlock are a great touch of personalization you can add to make each run different. All-in-all a great puzzle game that has a lot more to offer than what one might expect from the genre.

Mike's Garden is one of those calm puzzle game where you can take all the time you want to plan and make your move, then rewards you for your dedication. Being a turn-based puzzle, you can stop and take a break at any time. Which on the other hand makes it easy to pick up at any time, as you are not forced into a x-minute session once you get started. Though it has that "one more turn" property so you may find yourself keep wanting to take another move just to get that match anyway. Like most matching games, the game tends to put you in bad situations by seemingly blocking your way intentionally from time to time. It can feel a bit frustrating once you start seeing the pattern, but it's also up to you to weight the risk against the reward, and make placements that minimize the chance of getting your plan ruined by 1 stray block (plant in this case). Overall a relaxing yet challenging puzzle game that you can play at your own pace, with a robust scoring system that can really affect your final result once you try to optimize your play. My only grip is that at later stage of the game, there are so many different plants in the pool and it makes setting up chains or big matches ver…
