Mini Gardens is a charming, relaxing logic puzzle game based on the Masyu format that players find easy to learn and enjoyable to work through, with cute graphics and a pleasant difficulty progression. However, some players note that the game faces stiff competition from free alternatives like Simon Tatham's Portable Puzzle Collection, and the UI and theming could be clearer and more polished. Despite these concerns, most agree it's a solid, worthwhile purchase for puzzle enthusiasts, especially at its modest price point.
In short: Mini Gardens is based on Nikoli's "Masyu" logic puzzle. If that doesn't ring a bell - it's "Pearl" from Simon Tatham's Portable Puzzle Collection (STPPC). Since STPPC comes with a well-made level generator that is completely free, Mini Gardens has a tough time competing. I like some aspects of the presentation, but theming and UI are not great and prone to confuse the logic. Despite being pretty short the pricing seems adequate. I have issues with it, but this game is neither terrible nor broken - I just find it obsolete given the available competition. While I don't personally recommend it - as long as you know what you're getting yourself into, it's a completely fine purchase. In long: In terms of gameplay it's probably easier to read the rules of Masyu, the underlying logic game, on Nikoli's website. If that seems familiar to you, it's because Masyu rules were implemented as Pearl in the popular Simon Tatham's Portable Puzzle Collection. Note how the original rules elegantly use black and white dots to denote special tiles …6 found this helpful
My wife is furious at our next door neighbour who sunbathes nude in her garden... Personally, I'm on the fence.3 found this helpful
A beautiful little game that was an absolute delight to puzzle through.2 found this helpful
I enjoyed this game- its puzzles are sufficiently challenging, the interface is easy to use, and the graphics are cute, albeit a little basic. This game is inexpensive enough that if you enjoy "plumbing puzzles", this should be a no-brainer.1 found this helpful
Nice little puzzle game. Not too hard, not too easy. Very calming and relaxing. Really enjoyed it.
Very fun and relaxing game. It's very easy to learn and start playing, and there is a good progession of difficulty throughout the levels. If you're into puzzling then I recommend this game!
