Developer Chromatic Games is in love with dark patterns and enshittification to sell DLC/MTX. They're modifying the game to extract money from players with artificial difficulty and P2W interactions. The pattern is clear, make the game "fun enough" in the beginning before letting power-creep and eventual requirement of spending money/endless grinding ruin the gameplay. Dungeon Defenders 1 is the only game that has good-will but even then they're ruining it more and more because all their other reiterations have flopped because once again, they're too greedy trying to milk the player into spending money or grinding forever. Treat yourself with respect and don't support this developer. Their customer support is terrible, late game scaling is a mess, and you yourself as a person don't need to play something that will overtime get even more and more P2W/DLC heavy.

Dungeon Defenders: Awakened is everything I hoped it would be. The moment I fought the Dragon boss again, the nostalgia hit me like a truck. It brought me right back to the days of playing the original Dungeon Defenders, and it reminded me why I fell in love with this series in the first place. The gameplay stays true to the original while adding enough improvements to make it feel fresh. Building defenses, swapping heroes, and surviving those intense waves still feels just as satisfying as it did years ago. I know the game hasn't had the smoothest journey, but I genuinely hope it succeeds because I love the vision behind it. You can tell the developers wanted to capture what made the original special instead of trying to turn it into something completely different. If you're a longtime Dungeon Defenders fan, this is absolutely worth playing. And if you're new to the series, it's a great place to experience why so many of us have such fond memories of it. I really hope this game continues to grow. It deserves a passionate community, and I'd love to see the vision fully realized.

Okay. At first I was like. Cool. A game remake of the first game right? But with extra abilities? The cannon balls actually have a bounce to them for some reason? Okay. I'll try it. Get in. See the characters are like cut into nothingness. The only good ones are the main two. Wizard and Knight and then EV. For actual dungeon defending I mean. The way it's MEANT to be done. With towers and big chillin. And I thought they'd have cosmetics you could unlock like the first game. Sort of. If by cosmetics you mean crap. Like a Diablo 3 style you unlocked a new transmog! type crap. I mean there are some good ideas here, but all around. This studio needs to kinda just die off now. That'd be for the best. That OR actually make a decent ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. They already did okay with the first one. The second one is a purchase everything hell nobody ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ asked for. Then they did the same to the first game. It's like people take their games. Turn them into ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Ask for a bunch of money. And sit pretty like the slobby little ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pigs they are. I feel like I'd rather refund this and just play the second one. At least Dungeon Defenders 2 you can unlock the characters despite having to purchase…
