[h1] Reviewing the Mechanics: [/h1] At time of review the game bills itself on the following description: "Sell magical eggs, hatch rare monsters, and build the ultimate monster shop. Collect valuable creatures, set your prices, grow your business, and expand your store." Breaking down each selling point - Sell Magical Eggs Yes the game centers around selling eggs, you purchase them in crates of 6 or 12 and pop them on a shelf to sell. Pricing is similar in mechanic to Card Shop Sim where you have a Market price and you can reprice to Market Price, go up or down 10%, and round to the nearest dollar. - Hatch Rare Monsters The second aspect to this shop game is the function of taking individual eggs and opening them up to get a monster. While this is a cute and casual game, I cannot at present recommend it as there are too many game-breaking bugs (based on personal experience, as well as multiple threads I've perused). Pros: Cute simplistic shop sim gameplay Cute monster models Simplistic UI and gameplay Cons: Various game breaking bugs (customers can get stuck at counter mid transaction and you cannot cancel or restart a transaction, so it holds up the line and prevents you from closing shop for the day). Repetitive Gameplay. I've played a lot of sims like this (for example, Table Battle sim), and in these collector sims, you're allowed to collect yourself and also engage in battles with customers. In this game, you can only watch the customers do this. Without an "unstuck" or way to fix game breaking bugs, I'd probably have to start a new game all over from the beginning after hours of gameplay. Fix the bugs and diversify the gameplay (creature collecting for the owner and the ability to cage fight with customers yourself), and I would then recommend the game. It is not bad for the price, it's just frustrating getting locked out due to a bug.

Monster Shop Simulator is a first-person shop sim where you order magical eggs, stock shelves, set prices and sell them to customers while expanding into monster collecting, employees and cage events. Hatching rare creatures and building a collection are supposed to give the familiar shop-sim formula its monster-themed twist. Pros ✔️ Some of the controls are convenient - I liked being able to use the number keys on the keypad instead of having to manually click every individual number. Small thing, but appreciated. ✔️ I like the cel-shaded direction in concept - Cel shading is something I generally like, and at least gives Monster Shop Simulator a little more visual identity than another shop filled with realistic shelves and generic products. ✔️ The basic shop loop is immediately understandable - Order eggs, put them on shelves, open the store and sell them. If you have played basically any shop simulator before, you are going to understand what it wants from you almost immediately. Cons ❌ The character models and animations are awful - Customers repeat constantly, the models do not look particularly good, and that walking animation bothered me basically every time someone came …

Definitely room for improvement, backstock shelves and more product variety would be good, but the monsters are fun and it wasn't too tough to sink a few hours into. Probably won't go back to it until there's an update or two, though.

Sometimes a €5 game is allowed to be a €5 game^^ And that's exactly why I don't really understand many of the negative reviews for Monster Shop Simulator. This isn't a massive simulator with hundreds of hours of content, but it also doesn't pretend to be one. The Steam page and trailer show you pretty clearly what you're getting, and for the price, I think that's completely fair. You run a small shop with a garden and can gradually expand both. You can decorate, unlock plenty of new items to sell, and even organize monster battles. You can either plan the fights yourself or simply provide a small arena and get paid for letting others beat each other up. Business is business xD But the real highlight is obviously the monsters. You hatch them from different eggs, collect them, and slowly work towards completing your collection. And that's basically the main goal of the game. The world, characters, and art style also look exactly like what you see in the trailer, so there really shouldn't be many surprises about what kind of game this is. Could there be more content?
