Moony:Black_Lotus is described as an “atmospheric adventure.” The art and music are exceptional, and it begins as a dark (as in the absence of light) world to explore. The first segment of gameplay is in a house and, although you are not being chased, it has the feel of Little Nightmares as you guide a small character through a big world. This soon changes to a trip through a complex factory with many moving (and dangerous) parts. And this is where Moony began to unravel for me. Getting through a production line without getting flattened does not appear to be in my future! What the Steam store page does not clearly communicate is that this is a side-scrolling platform game along the lines of Inside or Limbo. It requires a certain level of skill and timing that I lack. I played Inside to the end and was proud of myself. My hubris was short-lived, as Limbo broke me completely and I never could finish it. In terms of the platforming required to progress the Moony story, it leans towards Limbo. The good news is that the game regularly saves to a single slot. When you die (which you are likely to do often), you will respawn at the last save point which is usually not more than a …9 found this helpful
Started playing this game and I really like it! It has a gorgeous soundtrack, which really adds to the atmosphere of this game - feels really unique. The story is interesting, told through visual storytelling and the stunning music, which I really like - no need to overexplain things through endless walls of text or monologues. I feel like you can discover a lot in this game, but I only started playing it, so I am excited for what comes next. I definitely recommend this game!4 found this helpful
I really love the art style and the way how the story is told. Took me some runs to fully grasp the lore. The orchestral music builds atmosphere perfectly, and the music easter egg in the main menu really catchet me off guard xD A surprisingly well performant game for it being in UE5 with no noticeable bugs. A really great experience from such a small team. Looking forward to what’s next!3 found this helpful
I absolutely love this game – not just a little, but with all my heart! It’s a journey through beautifully crafted details, atmospheric levels, plenty of variety, clever puzzles, and – best of all – a story you get to discover for yourself. Of course, my opinion isn’t entirely unbiased: I had the huge honor of co-writing the soundtrack for Moony: Black Lotus, which gave me a deep look into the last one and a half years of development – though I wasn’t involved in the actual game design itself. Now, just before release, our soundtrack team got to play the finished game for the very first time. And honestly – thank you so much, Phil and Kai, for creating this. It holds so many beautiful moments, so much magic and mystery waiting to be uncovered. To me, Moony: Black Lotus is not just a game – it’s a piece of art, and a personal reminder of all the wonderful memories along the way. I truly hope many more players will dive into this world, gather the clues and symbols, interpret them, and craft their own story from it.2 found this helpful
Played in UEVR. It's not really rising above it's competiton so it's hard to recommend above something like Little Nightmares... but if you like that a lot here's more of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtakathADwY1 found this helpful
If only the story was as dramatic as the music. What I liked? That the game ended just before my boredom threshold. What I disliked? That I paid for such boredom. Yawn fest!1 found this helpful
