About Aimi

Aimi is a short, atmospheric horror game initially created for the IGMC 2018 but which has since been expanded upon and improved. This game is heavily story-driven, with horror taking a backseat to a more in touch and emotional story and with gameplay being made up of puzzles in between longer cutscenes. An initial playthrough of Aimi could be completed in about 1 hour. However, there are multiple different endings that can extend gameplay. Additionally, Aimi was developed as a sort of therapy game by a 16-year-old kid (me!) so do keep that in mind. While Aimi contains only a few optional jumpscares, there is a lot of cartoon blood and gore and extensive swearing. The game explores themes of mental illness and suicide in a thoughtful manner.

There's a lot of potential here. I found myself becoming deeply attached to the main characters and invested in the story, but I feel disappointed by the true ending. With a more grounded story I think this could have been a really solid little game. My friend and I really enjoyed the puzzles, I wish we got more of them. I also really like Aimi's design, it's not often I get to see a brown girl as the protagonist in an rpg maker game, that made me smile. I think I'd give this game a 6.5/10. I'm genuinely excited to see what comes next from this developer.

This was a delightful experience for a story that grapples with a heavier topic and is done at such an early age! I've not personally played many (or really any) RPGmaker games, so I found this as great one to start with! The changes that occurred to the save point area was fun, none of the puzzles were overly difficult or tedious, loved the random quips in it (my favorite being: "knocked over chair number 8..."). The parts of the story I did see and interact with I found interesting, I enjoyed that there were several plot threads going on so then I had more than one thing to think about!

This game was fun to play and had a unique storyline with some decent puzzles, chases, and mechanics. I always love being able to support some smaller games and creators, and this doesn't fall short.
