About Mortmentum

Beat My Highscore, I Dare You.

But like, this shit ramps up quick. Five types of enemies, deadly lasers, your own incompetence and only a grappling hook and physics to deal with it. Good luck :P

Get creative and improve your control, dodge between enemies with more precision than it takes to do surgery on a grape, grab hold of an enemy and use their own laser to kill everyone else or go with the classic and slam your foes into the ground or each other. That's a least like, 3 possibilities (maybe more, I'm bad at math).

Simple description:
You play as a ball with a grappling hook in a small arena. You get points by destroying other shapes, where the shape corresponds to what they do (the triangles shoot lasers). The more points you have, the more difficult the game becomes and when you die, you try again from the beginning. You destroy shapes by grappling them and flinging them at walls or other hard objects.

"Mortmentum" is a simple tech demo of a game, a basic 2D minimalist "platformer" like game where you swing around with a grapple/tetherball thing to kill baddies. Survive the enemy waves and see how high your score can go. Remember in the 1980's when the only objective developers could work out for arcade games was a high score? Yeah, the industry moved on. Except for this game, I guess. This game features very lacklustre minimalist "art" for graphics instead of anything remotely contemporary. I'm sure the "developer" thought this would come across as "artistic", but it doesn't, it comes across as "really lazy" and looks bad as a result of their lack of interest in doing their job properly. Developers must try to understand that gaming is a visual medium, and gamers spend a lot of money on high end gaming rigs for a reason. And that reason is not so they can look at lazy, phoned-in half efforts like this. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrate…

I was having fun until I decided to run for the 20x combo achievement. At this point, I noticed how... "unbalanced" this game really is. When you reach about 10 or 15, the game just throws 7/8 lasers at your screen, and it does not matter what you do, you will be damaged because there are 3 entities running for your ass, and a laser triangle will spawn on the other side of the screen. Also, of course, the enemies can go past the lasers, but not you. I couldn't understand why the enemies have I-frames… And why is the damage so inconsistent? In the end, this forced me to play the most boring way possible in order to finish it.

Fun challenge, but the lasers that spawn can be spammy, chaotic and annoying. Please make them spawn less frequently.
