✦ AI summary

Mumps is a cute, minimalist 2D platformer with straightforward design and colorful visuals that can be completed quickly, but players consistently criticize it as overpriced for its short length and question whether it's an original creation or a clone of defunct games. Common complaints include poor controls that don't register inputs reliably, limited level variety, and the overall value proposition, with most recommending waiting for a significant sale or skipping it entirely.

The top review sums it up best. It's a clone of other games, that no longer exist on Steam (coincidence?). The developer is just looking for a quick and easy cash grab, so do your part, and avoid this slop.

Mumps, developed by MrSandman and published on Steam by NedoStudio, is a minimalist 2D platformer that embraces straightforward arcade design and colorful presentation over complexity or narrative ambition. At first glance, it appears almost deceptively simple: you control a bright pink pig tasked with gathering acorns in preparation for winter. Yet beneath that cheerful premise lies a game built around precision, timing, and persistence. Rather than relying on elaborate systems or layered mechanics, Mumps focuses entirely on the fundamentals of platforming, offering a tightly scoped experience centered on mastering jumps and navigating hazards. The visual design immediately sets the tone. The art style is clean, bright, and intentionally uncomplicated, with bold colors distinguishing platforms, traps, and collectibles. The pig protagonist stands out clearly against each backdrop, ensuring that the player’s focus remains on movement and positioning. Hazards such as red spikes signal danger with unmistakable clarity, while certain platforms disappear the moment they are touched, introducing tension into otherwise simple sequences. The clarity of the presentation ensures accessibili…

To be honest, I'm not sure whether to give it a positive or negative score. I enjoyed it, it's a good game for achievements, completed in under 15 minutes and it was not frustrating or anything for me and although the game is not perfectly done, there are no major issues. But when you recommend game to someone else, you have to keep in mind other factors as well, such as price - which shows as $4.50 for me. If a friend asked me - "should I buy this game"? I'd answer "no, not worth it unless you get it for free". And I think it is fair to give not-recommended status for that reason. There could also be some ethical issues with this game as well - other reviewers' are complaining about there being clones - and maybe this one was also based on some flash game or something - but other games are taken off of Steam, yet this one still remains, so I wouldn't mind those suspicions.
don't mind me reviewing after 7 years of release, it was sitting in my library for a long time and I decided to try it for achievements, thought I'd give it a review as well
♥♥♥♥. This game is not worth any money. Developer literally made a huge pile of crap and people ate it with words "Mmmm so good and tasty!". DO NOT BUY THIS GAME MUSIC - 2/10 GAMEPLAY - 1/10 CONTROLS - -10/10 (I have really good devices, but the game does not register the press) LAVELES - 5/10 (To be fair, some levels are interesting. Like... 3 or 5 of them) CHARACTER - 10/10 (Just because I like pigs)

Its a cute platformer. Though its very short, it only took me 38 minutes to get 100%. Its slightly challenging. But you can complete it in one sitting no problem. It is however not worth its full price, so wait for a sale.
