Music Game is a rhythm game that I think gets a lot of value from letting me use my own music instead of giving me a fixed soundtrack. I can load an audio file and the game automatically creates a playable chart from it, then I can adjust how the game behaves and choose how many lanes I want to play with. That makes the idea much more interesting to me than a normal rhythm game with a set list, because the music I already have becomes part of the content. The automatic chart generation is the main thing I like here. I do not have to manually create every level before I can play a song, and the game tries to turn the audio into something I can actually play. I can also customise the gameplay and use anywhere from one to six lanes, so I have some control over how demanding the experience is. When the generated chart matches the music reasonably well, it gives me that satisfying feeling of actually playing along with a song I chose myself. There is also a proper editor for when the automatic generation is not enough. I can make changes to charts rather than being completely stuck with whatever the game creates, and Steam Workshop support gives me another way to handle custom content…
