Mystic Academy: Escape Room

My least favorite kind of puzzle is the one where the solution is figuring out what the puzzle is... This game has a handful of them and they all pissed me off. The hints are also useless, they just tell you things you probably already know but aren't piecing together... Overall, I would not recommend this game, and that's saying a lot because I enjoy some pretty seedy escape room games.

Puzzles are either easy or impossible. The hints are mostly useless. As an example of impossible, there's a puzzle toward the end that requires moving pieces on a chess board to cover marked squares, but nothing to suggest what piece goes on which square other than a set of tiles with a number of steps and directional arrows. Either you get lucky or spend hours trying to work out the possible combinations of steps. There are a couple of others where the goal is clear but the solution is ridiculously time consuming.

This was rather disappointing compared to their other games I've played. Most of the puzzles don't have to be fully figured out to solve and some you can easily just guess. There's too many "1-9 number" puzzles. It's really a shame the puzzles are so bad in this, because the vibes are awesome.

I wish I could give a "thumb angled upward 45 degrees". The game is good, there's only one puzzle that still doesn't quite make sense to me. But why does movement have ice physics? I'm walking around a wooden or stone floored room. Why is momentum needed in a puzzle game? It feels like someone had just learned how to handle acceleration in the engine and was so excited they needed to put it in a project. I thought the game was lagging the first time I tried to walk.

5/5 Less of an escape room, more of just a linear story with puzzles. Decently good puzzles besides a few that are a tad bit annoying. If you're looking for something to do for less than a couple hours, would recommend.
